ComSkip question

Comskip can't affect the volume of a recording can it? I'm thinking no, but it is odd. Last night we recorded the premiere of Hawaii 5 0 and there was a horrible hum... commercial came on hum was very reduced... remained with a low hum until the next commercial came on (so the show itself was without hum for one segment).. at which time the hum got loud and stay loud until the next commercial. the recording started out with a hum which got loud during the first segment of the show. it's just very odd that a marked difference in the hum occurred at both commercial breaks???

That sounds like you've got an audio decoder with a lot of volume normalization in it. Most will restart the normalization routine on a seek, which is why the breaks are triggering a change. ffdshow and ac3filter both have normalization settings.
