Trying to get just a single QAM channel

I'm confused about something. I thought if I had a correct Zap2It ID for a channel, then I would be able to get guide data for it, even if that channel is not on any of my lineups. Is this not true?

I'm asking because I just gave up on OTA for my HDHR, and tried to setup my HDHR for QAM use. We have one channel (TWUNCED) that can't be obtained with an antenna.

To setup the HDHR, I copied the "Digital Broadcast" for my area, since I thought that would be more efficient. I then added a channel to lineup:

name: TWCUNCED
ID: 35781 (from the Zap2it listings for digital cable in my area.)
logical: 203
phys: 90-4-4

Once I've added it, there is no guide data for it.. (I've tried to force and EGP update via the web server).

Earlier, I tried to setup QAM using the "digital cable" lineup for my area. I gave up after the "downloading TWC Digital Cable lineup.." screen stayed on screen for over an hour, and my Wiz.bin more than doubled in size.

What is the best way to do what I'm trying to do? I'm remembering why I hate QAM.

So I finally gave up, and used the digital cable lineup. My Wiz.bin doubled in size, then eventually shrank down to the size it has been for years. I guess they must prune out the unused channels, and not fetch guide data for them.
