Is beta "20100909 0" working for anyone?

I went for the update and got a bricked box. Just read a thread where it was happening to others. My HD200 is blinking like mad, so I am hopeful this is a good sign that the server restore method is working. I'm pretty new to the HD200. I've only had this one for a few months. This is my first attempt to update to a beta and it was, clearly, a disaster.

There are features in the betas that I want. So my question is there anyone running the new beta successfully? If I do not have an expensive paperweight, should I try the update again or will I just get the same result? Should I be using the USB method instead? If so, that seems to allow me to use earlier betas. If this beta is bad, which one should I be using?

Also, is it always like this for updates? I mean its been in beta forever. Does it ever go stable or are HD200 customers just stuck in beta purgatory forever?

I've updated 3 x HD200 and 1 x HD300 without issue......fingers crossed I've never had or will have a bad firmware update but if you do just follow the instructions and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Sage basically treats Beta's for the HDX00's like Google does: everything is a Beta until they decide to not call it a Beta. Rarely is there any issue with running a Beta and if there is a major flaw they will release another one very quickly or you can always roll back to an earlier version....

All the beta firmware updates have been working for me.

If trying to update from a firmware version that is several months old, try unplugging the unit & restarting it first.

If you need to do a server restore, you can also restore to the the beta version you want to use, not just a much older version. And, don't forget that this can be a fairly long process, so don't turn the unit off during the update.

Too right . How long might this take, just so I know when to panic again if its taking too long? Its been almost 5 hours and the HD200 is still blinking, but the red light is not blinking while the green one is blinking like it needs to use the restroom . I hope that's a good sign?

I only did one hd-200 but it worked fine for me.

Ok based on all your advice, here I go again, beta firmware update take 2!

My H200 is giving me fits. Finally setting up a server (trial Beta 7 latest version) and the H200 loses video when connecting to the server. It's like it will work once when I flashed it to the Beta 20100909 0 version but after that I get a blank screen. Tried about everything I can think of but no love. Have to downgrade it back to the current production version and then reflash it again to the beta release for it to work again. Tried deleteing the clients data on the server... no luck there either.

I'm having major issues. Client doesn't connect to the Beta 7 on the production H200 flash but the beta flash it does then stops. Why would the client side boot video work but when connecting to the server I get a blank screen?

It shouldn't be this difficult...

Well I thought flashing it back to prod and then beta again worked. Still nothing. Firewall is off, no client file under the clients directory. Does not seem to generate a new one.

Any ideas?

I might have experienced something similar a month back. At that point I had a HD200 that would show the "startup-progress-bar" then at the point connecting to the v7 server it just "blacked" out on the screen. Nothing visible. Only thing I could do to get it going again was booting the HD200 without network cable. Got the off-line interface mode. Then connect network cable. Navigate/refresh servers to connect to (in off-line mode). Then connect. At that point I got connection to v7 server. And then when just doing soft/off/on, it managed to connect again. But if power/off/on. Same black screen.

What I did to solve it (I think). Was to do "total reset HD200". The one where you hold some buttons on remote when power'ing the HD200 on. Then a reflash to latest beta firmware. Also deleting HD200 client config file on v7 server. Just to be sure. After that, I have never had problems going from 100% power off to connection to v7 server. My theory is that some persistent-config-bit on HD200 was in a "bad/wrong" state. And was only fixed by the "total reset HD200". Of course, doing problemsolving for a living, it could be a 100 other reasons Too many changes done at once, and I have no intention to try to provoke the problem to prove it

I just wanted to report that reflashing worked ok, I haven't had much time to play with it yet to make sure, but it seems everything is working.

When I turned on the extender this evening, it made it to connect to sever and then black screen -no input on the TV.

power cycle with remote would never bring the video output back.

Pulling power with no network would get me back to the standalone screen, but choosing the server it would immediately go black again.

Trying the rollback now.

If you have repeatable problems connecting to the server, be sure to file a bug report and look into getting debug logs so SageTV can determine if there is something to be fixed.

I just had a problem with the beta. Don't know if its repeatable yet. I connected a Buffalo 500GB drive to it, which I have done many times before, and ran it in stand alone mode. As I was browsing the folder with movies (again something that I've done many times before), it froze. I had to pull the plug, wait 10 seconds and plug back it to get it to boot again. I will post back if it happens again.
