Sage v7 Conversion

What would be the easiest way to convert an HD file I record to a non HD format? I noticed there is a place in Sage for file conversion, but not sure how that works?

select the recording in sage, bring up the options menu, and choose Convert. There are a number of different profiles in there to choose from. Which you choose would be determined by what you want to playback the video on.

Thanks, found it. Even though I select DVD it is not giving me an image or or TS Folders, but rather an mpg file. Will test to see if that works on her media player. She has the WD mini which is limited in the files it can play.

IME, if you use the built-in converter in SageTV you're going to get two things. Funnily enough, you'll get both of the things I'm about to list, not just one of them.

1. a video file that's larger than it needs to be.
2. a quality level that's much lower than it should be.

Use MediaShrink and Sage Job Queue instead if you need to automate the process. If you just need to do manual conversions, then use Handbrake and save as an MKV with the default H.264 settings. That should play back without an issue on the WD box
