Browse Channel

I believe this is/was available in SageMC (and I know WMC has it ) -- where you could select the channel on the far left of the guide and then just browse the listings for that channel.

Anything like that around for v7?

Not that I'm aware of. But if you install the mini guide for v7 you can arrow up to bring up the mini guide and arrow right to browse just that channel for the shows coming up.

So I have to be watching live TV to browse a channel? Not really what I'm looking for (though I do very much like the mini guide )

Looking for something more like this:

The hidden malore custom menus have guides which can be configured to show channels on the left & listings for the highlighted channel on the right.

Hi Andy, thanks for the pointer -- is there a particular guide I should start with? From "Program Guide" I see Standard View, Guide, Guide 2, and Guide 3 -- would have of the "Guide" views work as the starting point?

Any of the additional "Guide" items would work -- you can configure & rename each one, and each can have up to 8 different views.

I'm playing around but have already managed to mess up the default Upcoming Movies view under Custom Menus -- is there a big fat reset button?

Also (back to TV Channels, sorry) I've got the left column grouping by channel but I can't get that column to sort by channel number... is that possible?

Thanks again! I haven't messed around with malore much and I'm seem to fumbling around quite a bit...

I know you pretty much consider the malore update for v7 "done" but if you could file the following two requests away for future reference in case you ever feel like looking at the code again I'd very much appreciate it

1) A way to override the bright green text/color for the left side/column; I find it very jarring, especially since it's not used anywhere else in SageTV that I've noticed (e.g. in Recording Schedule / By Day Recording the left side/column still uses white text). Just providing white as an alternative would be great...

2) Have the Group by Channel Number then sort by channel number. Right now it appears to be some random listing order. I've got an HD TV Channel Guide and on my system, HD channels start at 502 and go to 9xx but the channel listing in malore starts at 510 and ends on 632... (I've noticed that by default, Group by Channel Name sorts them alphabetically by default so sorting numerically for Channel Numbers seems to make sense).

Thanks again for pointing me to the malore menus -- I've seen plenty of posts about them but haven't had a chance to really dive into them until today and now I'm hooked!

The green text on the left indicates new/future airings in that group. You can change the color via the gMaloreButtonNormalColorNew theme.properties definition. I might make it an option.

I noticed earlier that grouping by channel number seems to still sort by channel name, so I'll look at that.

Well in my case, it's not sorting by channel name either, for example:

600 - CNNHD
587 - NHLHD
617 - FBNHD
602 - CNBCHD
619 - TWCHD
629 - BIOHD
716 - FUSEHD

And the first one is: 510 - KOPBDT while the last one i: 632 - NGWILDH

Thanks for the info on gMaloreButtonNormalColorNew theme.properties I'll be poking at that shortly!

Channel number sorting is fixed for the next version.
