Pausing playback then rushing to catch up

My system has been munching along for about a half year now with a few minor annoyances. Recently, one seems to be occurring more frequently. During viewing SageTV server based recordings on HD200s the video will frequently stop then "rush" to catch back up. In some instances, this has rendered recordings useless.

Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, any ideas on how to cure it?

Thanks,
Bill

Hard drive failing or network bandwidth are usually your culprits (I'm betting on the network). What's your setup like?

HP router 1G to the server and 100M out to each node. The problem occurs with just one node active and is repeatable in that the same recording will have issues played back on different nodes. I can pick up an enterprise spec drive and see if that is the issue but these are reasonably new drives (less than a year) and green series for lower heat generation.

I get this every now and then. Not very often but it is very noticeable. I never really chased it down since it rarely ever happens, but it sure would be nice if someone (someone else, other than me :P) were to figure out the culprit.
