USBUIRT with Comcast DCT6200 Box

If anyone has the USBUIRT working reliably with a Comcast Motorola DCT6200 cable box, can you please post you .IR file?

I've been using the USBUIRT with a couple of Comcast DCT2500 cable boxes for years and it has been very reliable. However, I just upgraded one of my boxes to a DCT6200/2005 so that I can get HD channels (I also added an HD-PVR). In theory the remote codes should be the same (Comcast didn't even give me a new remote). However, the USBUIRT has become very unreliable since the switch.

I have been playing around with my IR file tweaking the delay between digits and the repeat count, but it still misses digits very frequently (Out of my last 12 recordings with that tuner, only 4 got the right channe). If I watch "live" TV through Sage and just start flipping through channels, it tunes the right channel most of the time, but it still messes up maybe once every 8th or 9th try. What's strange is the most common failure is for it to miss the first digit (so when it should tune "194" it goes to "94").

I also tried moving the wire from the USBUIRT to the cable box in case it was picking up electrical interference from something else, but no luck yet.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Update - I tried moving the IR Emitter from the right side of the oval window on the front of the STB to the left side and it seems to be working better so far.

Can anyone confirm the location of the IR Reciever on the DCT6200?

There is a label on the right side that says "remote" so I assumed that was where it was, but I think that might just be a remote activity LED. I tried shining a flashlight through the smoked glass oval, but I don't see anything that I can say for certain is an IR Reciever (I see several things that look like LEDs 4 of them correspond to the "A/B", "Remote", "Messages", and "Power", so I am guessing the 5th one on the far left is actually an IR Receiver).

I have mine pointing towards the center-right hand side of the smoked glass about 1-2 inches away. I just used the standard Motorola DC2000 IR file that comes with SageTV 6 and 7.

On the QIP6200 version it's definitely on the left hand side and you're right, it's not the same as the LED on the right that lights up during remote use.

AFAIK firewire is not an option with Win7-64bit, otherwise I would certainly try it.

That is correct. IMO, it's a good reason not to use x64 for your HTPC.

It shouldn't be a bit deal to get the IR blaster working correctly. I've two QIP6200 boxes (the same base mode as Comcast's version) and my Hava never misses with its IR blasting and from what I understand, once its configured the USB UIRT is very solid.

Just to update - after moving the IR Blaster to the left side of the cable box oval "window" and re-setting my repeat count and delay values, things seem to be working pretty reliably now.
