There are exceptions to this and if you are wiling to accept them then yes.

1. The client must stay on at all times because if the sagetv server initiates a datascan and can't connect to the mymovies server you will get errors and it won't be able to build the databasefile needed.

2. as you said the client install of mm collection manager also needs to be on the server.

other than that shouldn't be any issues.

cheers

See the attachment.

I have "Bad Boys" highlighted, which is the placeholder for Bad Boys I and II.

On the right hand side the "Year" and "Date Released" along with the balance of the information titles is meaningless.

I realize that I could place some sort of cover art in the placeholder, but it seems that something more automatic such as the cover art from the included discs might make more sense.

Again thanks for all of your great work and patience.

Randy
What I am suggesting is change the datasource for that boxset and search the mm database for a boxset already made (most of them already have on made.) This will give you all the fanart and appropriate metadata automatically. The reason it doesn't work with fanart inside is because most sagetv users wanted a way to have separate fanart for box sets and this allows that. If you want to request using fanart from the first title please feel free probably wouldn't be to hard to add but won't be high on the list either. Also request the disk be listed as that one isn't bad to add at all.

cheers

Question How do I play a movie from this plugin on a HD200?

Hi All,

I really hope this is not a stupid question. I havea clean install of Sage v7 with just the MyMovies plugin installed on a WHS. Wverything installed correctly, the whole interface looks great, but when I select a movie, and press enter or play, nothing happens.

I tried this on a HD200 and placeshifter (Obviously placeshifter won't actually play the movie, but I don't even get an error message).

If I press play via the default interface (Videos,DVD/BD) it works fine.

All my movies are PAL VOB files in movie_name\Video_ts structure.

I do not have trailers enabled (I saw there was an active bug in the list for this where: If you have trailers enabled but don't have any videos in folder then nothing happens.).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

See the wiki your paths for sagetv and mymovies must match perfectly and if they don't it won't work. Once you correct the paths rebuild the database file and you should be good to go.

Hey all I added another page to the wiki and first post about keyboard shortcuts and extras. This list will continue to grow and change as the beta continues.

the client tray app is good enough though right? or does the full blown program need to be open?

I was refering to the sagetv client computer must be on and tray app running is fine yes. The sagetv server just must always have a connection to the mymovies server if they are not on the same pc.

Try rebuilding your database files an see if the missing ones show up you will have to exit and reenter smm to see changes.

I have no idea what you are refering to in the collection manager I will have to open it and give it a look.
Rebuilding the database DID work, Plucky. Thanks for that suggestion!

Did you open Collection Manager yet to see what I was talking about? There was definitely a connection between the "Studios" having data in it and Sage My Movies not picking up those DVDs. I even gave it quite a while and restarted Sage several times. My Movies didn't pick them up until I rebuilt the database. Seems like it might be a minor bug. Maybe not worth spending a lot of time trying to figure it out but worth keeping in the back of your head if others see the same thing you'll know how to fix it

Also, since I put my entire DVD Profiler collection in it and have 2000 DVDs, I can actually outrun the graphics with the scrolling of the remote... and the remote doesn't scroll very fast as compared to the keyboard. It is by no means "unacceptable" but just mentioning that it takes a second or so for the DVDs to be filled in after I scroll a few pages. Meaning, just the text shows where the cover art normally is and then it fills in. I didn't see this behavior in any of the demo videos which seemed to scroll like lightening fast while maintaining the cover art. I'm not sure what affects this but I do have the Java heap set to 700mb and have 2 gig of ram in the computer. I could up that to 4 gig if you think that may help? Like I said though, no biggie, just bringing it up that the large collection slows things down a bit (which I suppose logically would be normal. LOL).

EDIT: Said I was scrolling with the MOUSE and I meant remote.

I have this exact same issue, but the instant i stop they all fill in (my collection is 1350.. now im jealous). If you set the background delay up a little it will definately speed things up. I increased mine from 500 ms to 2500ms and now it flies.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks! BTW, I said I was scrolling with the MOUSE. Not sure where that came from... I meant the REMOTE. LOL

It I all based on your settings and CPU. You can also adjust he amount of covers it caches see the extra features wiki. Keep in mind it can't cache an entire collection that size.

Also the poster fade option is for fast scrolling if you would rather the posters just be there but it be a bit slower turn poster fade of in the custom options. That is why there are options

Thanks, Plucky! And, yes, been playing with the options a little and you definitely outdid yourself with how customizable this is. Very nice! I'll wait though a bit before I set it up "just right" for my system until the options "stick" when Sage is rebooted (for the non service users). The default settings are more than fine though... but I do like the black theme better so do change that one. LOL

I'm going to stick in some extra RAM too. Can't hurt! hahaa

There is much talk of "rebuilding" the database from MM. I am unable to find any mention of "rebuild" in either the Collection Manager interface or the WHS interface or settings. On the WHS settings there is a "Clear" under the Database area, I saw reference to that else where as "rebuild," is that it?. Or, is a "rebuild" done by creating a "New Database" from the CM interface?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Plucky & Anyone else interested.

Just to give some feedback.
I am running the WHS version of Sage and My Movies.

To get SMM working correctly (so the play button works), you need to install the collection management application, and build a new collection database.
The key point is that the path in Collection management is the same as SageTv.

The best way I found to do this was to install the collection management tool onto my WHS directly.. so I RDP'd into the WHS, and installed the client only version of the collection management tool.

Once installed on the WHS, I ran collection management, and selected new database, then import folder content.
Specify the location of your movies which then should be the same as sageTv.

I then did a rebuild datafile from within the SMM options\database menu.

Now, the play button works, so I can enjoy the SMM goodness!

Thanks a lot Plucky for your extreme dedication to this, if you need any assistance then you only need to ask.

No problem

This is not the way to to do this just fyi and is unsupported by mymovies. You are suppose to install the WHS addin and then manage from a mymovies install as a client on another pc. This allows you to fully manage the collection and import or change locations. I don't recommend to anyone RDP in and installing the normal management tool as you will likely have issues.

For the other user rebuild database file is in the database options of SMM interface.

cheers

wjones and PLUCKYHD, thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction. I had just assumed that I need to rebuild the actual MM database as opposed to the SMM database from within SMM. Thanks again.

One interesting thing though. After reading through some of the posts on the path names needing to be exact, including capitalization, mine seems to not follow the capitalization rule. The disks in MM are at \\SERVER\... I had to change SageTV from \\localhost\..., so I made it \\SERVER\... to match MM CM. That did not work in SageTV, I still could not play the movies in SMM even after a database rebuild. However, in the WHS MM Movie Monitoring settings if I add a new folder it comes up with server in all lower case. So, I tried \\server\... for my import directory, did the rebuild and it works great now. Just thought I would pass that on since it does not match the earlier posts in case someone runs into the same issue.

Thanks.

I tried installing the SageMyMovie plugin, and I am also getting the "SQL Connection Error": com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The connection to the host null, named instance mymovies has failed. Error java.net Unknown.HostException:null. Verify the server and instance names, check that no firewall is blocking UDP traffic to port 1434, and for the SQL Server 2005 or later verify that the SQL server Browser service is running on the host."

The following plug-ins are installed:
SageMyMovies 1.09 beta
SageMyMovies API 1.101 beta
Microsoft SQL JDBC version 2.0

Microsoft SQL 2005 (or newer) is not installed on the SageTV computer. I do not have SageTV client computers, only extenders. The "SQL Server Browser" service is not installed on the SageTV computer. I disabled my firewall which did not change the error. I receive the error both on my SageTV server and on a HD-200 extender.

Does SageMyMovies require something beyond the SageMyMovies plug-in, such as SQL server 2005? Where might I be going wrong?

Dave
