Programming a remote?
I don't know if this belongs in the HD Media Extender forum or if my general question can be answered but I need to "map" my exit button on my harmony remote to work with the back button. I don't know how to do this and I am not even sure if this is a harmony config issue or something I should setup in sage? Any advice?
Thanks! Neil |

What kind of remote is it? That should be fairly easy to do in the software that came with the remote.

It is a harmony one. I thought someone said I should program sage at one point.

Go into Detailed Settings-Commands-Link Commands. Scroll down until you find the Back command and press enter. Now link it to your exit button. See the Sage manual for more detailed instructions.

I wouldn't change any settings in SageTV. When you setup your Harmony remote, you have to add devices that represent all of your components in your system. I am assuming at this point, you have done that and one of the devices you have added is the HD200 extender? After this, you need to setup an Activity for watching media with your extender. Within that Activity, you specify which devices are involved, and what inputs those devices are on (i.e. the TV is turned on and on input HDMI2, the HD200 is turned on, etc.)
If you got this far, then the last bit to configure is the specific commands you want for each harmony button. I don't have the software in front of me, but somewhere in the Harmony software, there is a way to configure the buttons within an Activity (this must be done at the Activity level and not the device level). The Harmony software default maps the buttons it thinks you want, but it allows you to change them after setup of the Activity is complete. When you find the button screen, just look for the Exit button and set it to be a command from the HD200 and then set it to the back button. I hope this helps lead you in the correct direction. If you can't figure it out from my general instructions, I will try to log in tonight when I get home and get the specific steps. |

Ok, so I checked the software...
1) Once you have setup the remote (having the extender device setup as the SageTV STP-HD200), make sure that you are on the 'Activities' tab. 2) Find the activity that you use for watching SageTV, and select the 'Customize Buttons' button 3) Scroll down to the row showing the Exit button for your remote and select 'SageTV' for the device. 4) Finally, select which button from the SageTV remote that you want mapped to the Exit button on your Harmony. 5) Save and reprogram your remote This should get you what you want (I think). The whole point of the Harmony is that it replaces your remotes. During your watch SageTV activity, you want the Harmony to act like the SageTV Extender remote; there should be no need to modify SageTV itselft. |
