Start with the newest drivers from Hauppage and Sic's HDPVR instructions

Beyond that we'd need to know what OS you are running, what drivers you are using, etc

So, which is it? Newest drivers or, as mentioned in the link:

For the Hauppage HD-PVR, you can download the newest drivers from the Hauppauge PVR support page. However, I would STRONGLY recommend that you start with the older 1.0.5.301 version drivers. I'm guessing about 90% of the stable systems are using this driver version. You can find the older drivers versions here. Just make sure you download the HDPVR 1.0.5.301_whql version. Download the file and unzip it to a temporary location.
(actually a serious question, as I have been running mine for a few days and already having problems - I started with the older drivers)

For anyone running SageTV V6, I would recommend the .301 Hauppauge drivers. Now that SageTV V7 has been released with some fixes for the HD-PVR the answer is not so black and white.

Honestly for a new setup, I would recommend starting with the newest drivers and then reverting to .301 if you have problems.

For those of us that already have things set up and are moving to V7, I'd stick with whatever drivers are working. For example, my setup is very stable using the .301 drivers and I have not switched to the newer drivers even though I have moved to SageTV V7. In other words, don't screw with it if it works, you are just asking for trouble!

Just to throw in something (since experiences with the HD PVR vary quite a bit)

I wouldn't recommend the latest drivers, if you plan to do any live tv watching as well, since those drivers can cause lockups related to channel switching (and tuning is rather slow). I'd recommend the previous drivers instead (available at http://www.shspvr.com/ftp/download/w...5.6.1_whql.zip)

Yup driver choice is a real crap shoot at this point, kind of like everything involved with the HD PVR. I have tried the .301, 1.5.6.1, and the 1.5.7.0 and have had troubles with all of them. I've finally settled on 1.5.7.0 cause I'm tired of messing with it.

I've got a USB UIRT coming because of too many missed recordings depending on the HD PVRs blaster. I'm hoping that maybe taking that out of the mix will add to the stability a bit although I'm not holding my breath.

Try 'right clicking' on the installation file and select 'run as administrator'. After I did that, I got the error about 'bitness of the inf' for 32 bit, but it (correctly) installed the 64 bit drivers. Since you run a 32 bit OS, I assume it will install the correct driver and 'error' on the 64 bit driver.

If I recall, you get a code 4 on successful installation.
