Custom feed XML request

Why oh why can we not just have a standard XML file to define the RSS feeds for the online videos?!?

I have gone through all the examples provided trying to create new feeds and custom sub folders. None of the configs I have seem to work at all, nothing is listed where it is supposed to be.

I feel using a standard XML structure to define the custom feeds name, images, folder location, titles and URL would be more easily adopted as it is in "plain English" and easier to parse when compared to a proprietary structure such as this.

I am normally pretty quick to pick these kinds of things up but I just cannot wrap my head around how this is supposed to work. The confusion is enhanced by the fact that there are two files to configure that reference each other yet do separate functions. Using the XML approach there could only be one file which would make maintenance much more manageable.

Anyone else agree?
