Trying to get external cable box to work

I'm running Sage 7.0.11.

I'm trying to get a cable box connected to a tuner to work with a USB-UIRT as the channel changing device.

I add the TV card.
I get a picture from it.
I tell it that I want to use an external cable or satellite receiver.
I tell it to use channel 3.
And sage never goes on from there (I can <alt><back arrow> so sage isn't hung, but it won't go forward from there).

I've tested that the card works, and sage gives me a preview so the problem shouldn't be the card. (I also used to use the card with sage until my local comcast dropped analog output).

I've tested USB-UIRT and it works (but I never get far enough to tell it to use it).

How to I proceed?

Edit: It looks like sage can't tune the card? It's an OLD hauppauge pvr-150. I tried updating the drivers. No help. I can tune it from the hauppauge program and also from Media Player Classic Home Cinema - so the card's controlable.

Suggestions?

First off, why aren't you using composite to hook your STB up to Sage? Coax cable is the poorest input you can possibly use. Svideo or Composite (yellow/white/red cable) is a much better choice.

I am not sure what you mean by "sage never goes anywhere from there" though....

Yep, that's the one that I'm trying to use. The other (the good cable box) is allocated to the TV (and my wife).

The problem appears to be that sage is trying to change the channel on the TV card to channel 3 and the channel is not changing so sage is just sitting there waiting for some kind of response from the card and not getting it.

What I also don't understand is that up until 3 or 4 months ago, sage was happily using the card to record the analog cable channels. When comcast went to totally digital, they left the cable-only channels unlocked, so I just removed the card from sage and got the programs using the silicon dust boxes. Now that they've started encrypting what used to be the analog cable-only channels, I can't get sage to use the card again?

Ok, I got an old version of sage 6 from backup when it was still using the card and it works fine with the old TV card. Version 7 does not work with the card. How do I proceed?
