HD100 MPEG Audio support died. Fixable?

As the subject states, my HD100 this morning stopped playing back any audio that is MPEG based. This includes all my MP3 files in Music and all audio captured from my Nvidia DualTV tuner and any videos I have that contatin an MPEG audio track. The HD100 is connected to a receiver and I have confirmed that AC3 / DTS still work. I am also sure that it is the Sage Extender as I have a second HD100 and it's working fine.

Main question is has anyone else had this before and is it fixable?

Any help appreciated.

Haven't had that before, maybe try a firmware update/downgrade and/or deleting the .properties file for the HD100 in the Clients folder and setting it up again to see if that fixes it?

I have to ask the simple questions....

Did you cycle to power? ie actually turn the power switch off then on and let it find and connect to the server again? Did you double check the audio setting on the HD-100 in the initial menu (before it connects to the server)?

Yes and Yes. In fact unplugged both the STB and the amp and hard reset the whole thing. Went in to setup and changed to stereo out and connected to the TV (bypassing the amp). Neither fixed it......BUT you're on the right track if you're thinking user error. I actually figured it out right after I posted. Here's what it was.

My HD100 is connected to my amp via TOSLNK (optical). As I mentioned it would NOT play anything except DTS / Dolby encoded audio (the formats it passes through to the amp for decode). I found out later that my 2 year old son had apparently at some point gotten a hold of the original SageTV remote and was playing with it. He must have hit the Sage TV Mute button, but since he did that while it was on an OTA channel with Dolby nothing happened at the time. When the channel got changed 2 hours later to a something with MPEG audio suddenly there was no sound. Since I use the amp to control volume there was no visual indication that the setup was muted, and the Sage mute function doesn't block DTS / Dolby passthrough. Sage also apparently remembers the MUTE setting on a per extender basis even through hard resets =).

Since the Mute key on my main Harmony Remote is mapped to the Amp's Mute function and not Sage's I never suspected the old remote had been pulled, Mute had been hit and then the remote put away again (thanks to Mom). In the end this was more "whodunnit" vs. tech problem, but there you have it.
