USBUIRT not changing channels on Dish 211k
I have been using Sage for about 8 months now and have made the switch to version 7. I also just added a second HDPVR which meant that I needed to make the switch to the USBUIRT. Channel changes were working OK with the Haupauge built in blaster. here is what i have done. I uninstalled sage, deleted the sage directory, uninstalled all of the haupauge IR blaster related software, installed the usbuirt drivers, reinstalled sage, setup the video source, learned the codes, and no channel changing happens. The led flashes but the 211k box does not respond at all. I also tested this with a blaster. The blaster and the led flash but no response from the 211k. I have been working on this off and on for a couple of months now and I am making no progress and have run out of ideas. I am hoping someone will have a suggestion that will solve this.

You say the USB-UIRT led is blinking when it is trying to change channels? If that is the case, then it is most likely a learning issue. How quickly was it learning the codes? Dish codes SHOULD learn pretty quick with a USB-UIRT, but you have to hold the remote very close to the USB-UIRT for it to do so reliably. If it IS learning issues, you may be able to search here on the forums. Dish hasn't changed their IR codes.. well. ever, so there are probably quite a few working .ir files floating around here. (I know I at one point posted up address 1, 2, AND 3 .IR files)

I seem to remember something about Dish IRDs using 56kHz carrier IR signals which is an option on a standard USBUIRT (for LEARNING not transmitting). Isn't the standard 38 or 40kHz?
My memory may be wrong, but it's worth a little research on the USB-UIRT support forums. Rob Last edited by robk; 06-29-2010 at 11:15 AM. Reason: added LEARNING |

Yeah, they DO use the higher carrier frequency, and there are 'upgraded' versions of the USB-UIRT that have a special receiver for learning the 56kHz codes. If you don't have that version, then you may indeed have problems learning (though you should be able to use one of the .IR's found here on the forums)

Fuzzy thanks for the quick reply. Sage seemed to have no problem learning the codes. within a few seconds i would get the message that the code had been learned successfully. but still no channel changes. I also, at one time, downloaded the irnhelper file, learned the codes that way all seemed to go smoothly but when using the test function of irnhelper - no channel changes. also when i purchased the usbuirt I paid the extra and got the 56khz model...I don't know if that helps.
I think I have seen the ir codes for the 211k somewhere I can probably find them. I avoided that method since the dish installer changed the code set on one of my 211k boxes so there would not be an ir interference problem with 2 boxes in the same room. I will give this a shot since this is a road i have not been down yet. Thanks |

I had this problem also. I had to change the IR Blaster Repeat Factor to 3. you can get to this option by going into the detail screen for the source. Then select the "Tuner control: USB-UIRT" on the right. Then pick remote control options.
If that doesn't work I can send you 2 different remote control code files. |

reccitron, thanks for the suggestion, I am going to try that in the next day or two. If that doesn't work i might give your code sets a try. thanks a million
