Firewire with two SA 4250HD stopped working using EXEMultiTunerPlugin

Hi All,

I have had my firewire channel changing working great for more than a year and suddenly it stopped working yesterday.
I did notice that both the 4250's were turned off, so maybe they got an update from Rogers.
I did a complete power down on everything and the powered up as normal (4250's, HDPVR's, PC)
This is the configuration:
- AMD PC (M3A78-EM) with 4GB of RAM
- 4x1.5TB disk (2 sets of RAID-1)
- Windows XP w/sp3
- 2 sets of (Hauppauge HDPVR (USB) + Rogers SA 4250HD (Firewire))
- Pinnacle Remote Kit for Windows Media Center (USB IR)
- EXEMultiTunerPlugin is controlling the 2 SA 4250HD's as device 3 & 4

I tried manually changing the channels with:
channel -f -a4 3 5
or channel -f -a6 3 5

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David.

Same thing happened to me.

Before the STB update, Channel -f -a4 -n <Device ID> <Channel Number> worked. After the update, Channel -f -a6 -n <Device ID> <Channel Number> worked.

So I just edited my registry to the new parameter -a6 and everything is good again.

Fortunately I had an old post from Andy (Opus4) that documented this!

Glad I found this post. I've been scratching my head all day over why firewire changing suddenly stopped working. It feels a little big brother-ish to have Rogers update my STB without my knowledge which ended up breaking all my recordings.

Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

Channel changing stopped working

Hi Folks,

This problem isn't with SageTV directly but I thought perhaps someone here may have encountered it or have suggestions to resolve my problem.

Basically I've had SageTV working nicely now for about 8 months on my Windows 7 PC. I use Timmoore's STB channel-changing software to send the channel change commands to my Scientific 4250 HD STB. It has worked perfectly up until a few days ago. Now I can't change channels from Sage. I can't even change channels from the command-line (by-passing Sage).

The 4250 device is still listed and enabled in Device Manager.

Has anyone encountered this and been able to overcome it? Just thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

-Fred.

Could someone point me to the documentation for the channel command and or the exemultitunerplugin. My Motorola 6200s have been working for years and with a recent update channel changing stopped working. It does work from the command line with the usual channel command line.

I started running into issues with EXEMultiTuner at some point also, I'd consider giving FWChannelProxy a try. You can find it in the download section.
