It's using the same standard airing list code that the default view uses. I'll have a look and see if I've missed something.

Thumbs up Thank you

This looks great! It's the one piece that I was really missing since abandoning SageMC half a year ago.

Thanks John, yes, it looked like that in previous versions too. I'm wondering if it's just my setup or if this could be fixed in the plugin. I think that second occurrence of the Movie title is there in case there are "non-movies" that have episode names. Maybe that could be removed? I dont know, maybe it also causes the date/channel font to look very small as well.

Thanks,
Michael

Edit: PS, There seems to be some kind of weird affinity to go into "No Genre" mode. I'm not sure how it happens.. maybe when exiting menus or something. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it. I started a completely different thread asking if this is normal SageTV behavior; or, something introduced by a plugin. If this is stock behavior, maybe Upcoming Movies plugin could also fix globally the TV movie double-title issue; which would probably fix the tiny day, date, channel on the right... along with the "No Genre" bug.

Merry Christmas Eve! Luckily, with our plugin system you can send small bug-fixes pretty conveniently.

Thumbs up PROBLEM RESOLVED & two remaining reproducible issues

I finally found out what was causing the display issues related to double-titles, small time/channel name. It was caused by the "GingerTV" plugin. I uninstalled that plugin; and, below is the result:

(Issue #1): I also figured out what causes the "Non-Genre" bug; which looks definitely unintentional.

Steps to reproduce:
While in the Upcoming Movies menu, hit the "back" button on your remote control. Instead of getting out of the Upcoming Movies menu, it changes "Genre All" to "Non-Genre".

Edit: (Issue #2): There's also one minor issue. If I scroll way down in the Upcoming Movie list, then exit the menu, the next time someone tries to use Upcoming Movies will see the movies listed left in the position the previous person left it, instead of resetting back to the top of the list.

Otherwise, everything in this plugin works GREAT! Once the time left to start feature is implemented, I dont see how this would be any less than the original SageMC Upcoming Movies; except for the encoder number display; which isn't a big deal; and, could be added in another plugin.

JREkiwi,

Is there a bug in Sort by ****? My system still sorts by date.

Also, sometimes when I exit and return, only On Now movies are listed or none at all. I think is has to do with using the Back button, but cannnot repro it consistently.

Thanks for your efforts!!

Jeff

I think the sort by **** was relying on the automatic IMDB lookup in SageMC to populate the Misc field with the star rating. I've removed it in the latest version.

You can set the default view by going into Options.

John, thanks for the latest update addressing the "Back" behavior and adding xx hours/minutes and xx hours/minutes ago!! I appreciate you adding all this cool stuff so quickly!!

I have a couple of minor feature requests which I think would really help out a lot to make this plugin dummy-proof and even easier to use:

1- When you scroll way down (further away from the starting point on the list) and exit the Upcoming Movies menu, then, later on another family member or person decides to use the Upcoming Movies, the menu goes back to where it was last left at; which isn't really an ideal starting point for subsequent visits to the Upcoming Menu. It can actually get pretty confusing.

2- Also, maybe you would consider making the list so it reaches an end (so it would be very clear where the end of the list is... having to select "up" or "page up" on the remote control if end of the list is reached. I admit, that I'm one of many people who will sometimes just mindlessly press down, down, down trying to get to the bottom of the list as quickly as possible; and, easily scrolling right passed the end of the list. If there's an actual end to the list, there's no question where the end is or where the beginning is.
If there's a good reason to continue using an "endless loop" list, perhaps you would consider to add a very noticeable separator between the end of the list and the beginning.

Anyway, thank you so much for listening to our suggestions. I'm still amazed you were able to cram all these new features in so quickly!

Thanks a million!
Michael

Michael,

1. Remembering the last item in focus is the default behavior on all the recording lists. I had a look at finding a way of overriding that, but haven't found one yet.

2. By default the list stops at the bottom when scrolling down and at the top when scrolling up. I suspect that you have "Use wrap-around scrolling in single column vertical lists" enabled (Detailed Setup / Customize).

Thanks for the tip on #2. That's really helped me in all my single column vertical lists. It also makes it easier for circumstances described in #1; as, the user can at least "page up" to the top very quickly.

Just one more thing.. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not... I noticed that in sageMC, movies will display as "1 hr xx minutes ago". With this plugin, it's only 1 hr, 2 hr, 3 hr... there is no minute increments after the hour mark. Is this also something that can be adjusted in detailed settings?

Everything else looks absolutely perfect!

Thanks again,
-Michael

I've done the code for the different time display options, but just need to add the menu option to change it.

I just installed the plugin and I have two things to say: 1) It is a very nice plugin (although I wish I could sort alphabetically rather than chronologically) and 2) it is a memory hog. I have my heap set to 1024 MB and Sage usually runs around 30-35% utilization but after scrolling down the list of upcoming movies, I run out of heap and my server pegs at 100% CPU until I reboot the extender.

Which view are you using?

I've never seen it do that. Try disabling background fanart and see if that makes a difference. I might need to add some fanart scaling to reduce the memory footprint.

I don't seem to be able to change views, so I guess that I have the default. From the Options, I have Category All, Showing Watched, Hiding Started.

Where do you do this?

I think there might be something else indirectly related to your memory/CPU issue. I didnt even have to change system heap size on my setup. I have fanart at full scale with almost all plugins installed including this one without issues on my extender. I only have 4GB of RAM on my 5 year old quadcore server which has 3 different webservers (not all related to sageTV); including backend ASP.NET apps for IIS 7, Squeezebox Server, and other network backend processes running at the same time.

I never have my CPU usage go higher than 5%-10% unless the server is transcoding HD to placeshifter clients at 30%-40%. What kind of hardware/ OS do you have? What other plugins do you have installed. You may try disabling all plugins and only enable this one to see if the symptoms still exist.

I really don't have that much installed: the web server interface, Serenity theme, Plucky's menu mod, hide volume from OSD and this one. Everything works great until I start scrolling through the list of movies. The last time this happened, I looked in the Sage log and it was filled with exceptions. I can reproduce the problem and post the logs, but I didn't know if this was the proper place for that.

My server's specs are in my signature, but I do all my watching through the extenders (HD-200 or 300).

Hmm.. I wonder what could be eating up so much of your java heap size. None of those plugins sound like they could cause running out of memory. I use those same plugins. Maybe those logs might mean something to John. I'm sure all the exceptions you mentioned in the logs might give a hint to where the problem is.

In the meantime, maybe you could go in the plugins area on your setup and use the disable all plugins feature; then, add only the upcoming movies plugin to see if the problem goes away. If the problem goes away, then try adding the BMT fanart plugin system back and try again. If the problem still isn't there, try adding plugins one by one (each time trying the upcoming movies plugin after you enable each plugin to see when it has this issue). Maybe it has something to do with the way your extenders work with your server? Maybe try turning off all your extenders and enable them one at a time?

I am on Dish Network, so have a very large number of channels that contain movies and have my scheduling period set to 14 days. Could these be causing problems?

Also, I don't run BMT Fan art. I tried at one point, but found it wasn't as useful as I would have liked.

I dont think so. I also have maxed out the schedule period to 14 days; and subscribed to all premium movie channels; including even extra subscriptions on specialty channels such as Playboy on Comcast dedicated to 4 R5000 devices; and, have fullsized fanart for just about every movie on TV. My heapsize does grow and shrink alot; and once in a while get a warning that its getting large; but no adverse side affects.
