How To ? Install USB-UIRT on Fresh HD-PVR setup
Due to Time Warner moving things around I have had to up our subscription plan so we could get digital HD. They removed the filter at the road and the HDHR pick up about 10 channels including Fox, CBS etc. I got a TW HD box (SMT-H3260) and can see the encrypted ones.
I have two HDHR and we only used basic cable(OTA channels lineup) till now. Can't use satellite as in the woods and only view to sky is straight up. Was thinking of getting a Moxi but have liked SageTv so going to try and run that way for a bit longer. I have read that I need to do a fresh install when setting up HD-PVR. All the posts I could find talk about how unreliable the included IR is and to use USB-UIRT. I have one of those from years back. I have searched and read for the answer on the order/how to install the following. Most topics tend to deal with what to do 'after' the HD-PVR IR doesn't work. I want to skip putting in software I don't need and may cause issues if I just use the USB-UIRT. How do I install the USB-UIRT in place of the HD-PVR IR? Do I need to install any of the 3 HD-PVR IR files that are talked about in the posts? At what point should I install the USB-UIRT? Is there any remote code learning to be done for the USB-UIRT? How would you go about installing HD-PVR, USB-UIRT, 2x HDHR. Also on a seperate note. I would like to let the 2 HDHR's do the unencrypted HD channels it finds like NBC FOX, and setup a channel lineup with only the encrypted channels for the HD-PVR, like Disney, National Geo etc. That is possible right? I just adjust what channels are checked in my two channel lineups. One lineup for HDHR's and one lineup for new HD-PVR. Thanks |

All you really need are the HD PVR drivers and the USB-UIRT drivers, install them before you open/start Sage. Then you go into Sage and configure the HD PVR, selecting the USB-UIRT as the IR adapter.
If Sage doesn't include a config, or if you can't find one on the forum/internet, then yes, you'll have to learn the basic 0-9 buttons through the UIRT. |

There is no need to install any of those Hauppuage files that relate to the IR system.
