Running 2 SageTV installs in parallel

I want to try out the new SageTV v7 beta. Is there a way I can run it along side of my v6 install? Or do I need to install it on another box completely?

EDIT: Does v7 use the same listen ports as v6? If so, is there a way to change it so both services aren't bound to the same socket?
Thanks

Aside from putting it on another box, your other option would be a virtual machine on the existing box. Might have problems accessing the tuners though, depending on type.

Ah great idea. Guess I'll get VMware setup. I don't use any tuners so that's not a problem.

Thanks

I'm running on two separate boxes, and one thing I ran into is I cant point an HD200 at a V6 server, then power it off and on (with the remote) and point it at a V7 server. When I do it just dies. If I unplug the HD200 between changing from one server to the other then it works fine. It's not a big deal because long term I don't think people will be swapping back and forth, but I thought I would share the fix in case you ran into the problem.

I decided to just put it on another box I had lying around. I did run into that problem when I wanted to switch back to my v6 'production' server. Is there anyway to get back to that 'boot' menu (the one where you can change system settings, and pick a server to connect to) without having to power cycle the Extender? I know that's the problem, but I'm just curious.

Thanks

No, well kinda. This is what I do:

HD200 is configured to not auto boot into the server.

When starting Sage:
Power Button = Standalone mode
Home Button = last connected server

Use the power button to shutdown (sleep) the hd200
