Braved the install and answered my own question, works great!

Wow - very nice! The whole system seems more responsive and the new interface is excellent - I'm coming from SageMC and I like this new default interface better. So far I'm very pleased.

Looking forward to some funky new themes from XBMC - might try my hand at porting one myself.

Thanks.

I really like V7. I love how it has the same SageTV with an improved UI.

Outstanding Job.

Left for a while, went to MCE. Hated it but it was tolerable. But definitely back now. I was thinking about flattening and installing 64-bit windows 7 next week anyways.

Just know that there is no firewire tuning driver for 64bit. If that doesn't matter to you then disregard.

I came across that issue and I had a USB-UIRT in a box (collecting dust) and that saved me.

Also the the PVR 500 cards has an issue with more the 3 or 4 GB of RAM. So, I have my 2 cards not being used.

We do not currently have Mac versions of V7 available; and do not have target dates for them yet.
These two quotes seem contradictory, so what's the real scoop for mac users?

I am using Placeshifter 6.6.2 to connect to the V7 Linux server. I am not an ardent user of PS though, so it hasn't been put through its paces. However, when I asked SageTV about it, prior, I was told it should work.

I took the day off work for this!!!
Installed 2xServers&1xClient in less than 30 minutes. No major issues to report - fast, fresh look. I'll miss my stvi's for a while but don't mind waiting for the devs to play catchup. Time to go enjoy the day.

Good job SageTV!!

It's always a great day to take off work! Unfortunately I can't today.. However, I just ordered the version 7 upgrade license. I plan to take images of my SageTV computer with both Acronis and Ghost, then upgrade. If there are problems, I can always get back to the old version.

Hopefully, the tuner cards will all work, USB-UIRT, Comskip and SJQ. I understand there is an up date for SJQ.

Dave

I backed up my v6 install and installed v7 on top. It works great! All my tuners working with no issues. Aside from the obvious UI change I love the no pause!

Same Here. Backup V6 and install V7 on top of V6. For the first time while I did a SageTV upgrade, I works without any issues! channels were changing, tuners were tunning! The kids left the system with the old V6 UI and when they got back and turned the HD200 on, their first reaction was "Dad, what you did to the system?" Response from the HD200 is faster and snappier, images load a lot faster, the new UI takes some time to get used to it but it is a lot better than the old one. Any instructions out there regarding how to port over XBMC Skins? Thanks.

Are the UI changes pretty much finished for now? Or is this still an early beta with lots of changes to come?

I installed V7 on my backup system last night and the initial menus look very good. However, lurking behind the scenes are some screens that look very similar to the old UI with icons, etc. that look rather dated.

For example when you select a show in Recorded TV it comes up with a popup menu that looks right out of the old Sage default UI with the old 2D icons for play, delete, etc. And when I chose icon view instead of list view in Recorded TV the icons seemed to have blue boxes around them that comes from the old sage dark blue based UI.

There exists some obvious UI improvements which I think they'll iron out in the beta process but in general I think you'll find it quite solid. I also saw the old blue Recorded TV pop up and thought - oh no.... but a clear explanation exists. You have the secret extras enabled and then have your recoded tv option set to show the Malore Menus. If you change the Malore menu to the default then you won't see old blue pop up. Opus has stated he plans to update that screen in the future.

OK but I don't really remember ever using the Malore stuff as I have been a SageMC user from pretty much day 1 except for the default UI on my Sage WHS server box. Where do I disable the Malore Menus?

And the icons (for play, delete, etc) really should be updated - they look so Duran, Duran!

Andy DID say he'd be working on the little graphics as well through the beta process.. hopefully that includes the icons. And for those who have been using SageMC for so long, you really have been missing a LOT of the functionality that the malore recording screen brings. I definitely hope that Andy gets it updated before release.

The malore menus will be updated before release, but I just have so much other higher priority work to do. The malore menus still work as well as before -- I use them every day & they aren't broken in any way that I know of.

is there a way to shrink the width of the "parallel recording" menu so that all the tuners show on the screen at the same time? Having to scroll left-right is not gonna work.

Use the 'Options' command and then you can set the # of columns in the Menu Options.

I swear I looked for that page in the "options" list and couldn't find it before. All good now. Thanks.

Is there a way to show more than 2.5 hours at one time and make the font smaller? I know, probably have to use Studio to do that, right?
