Hauppauge and I-phone
I wonder how long until I can stream my sage directly to my i-phone?

I believe the iPhone Hauppauge solution is wifi only.
Can't you already do that with any other off the shelf streaming solutions out there? VLC, TVersity, etc... Eric |

I believe the Hauppauge app can do live TV which most of the other apps can't do. And with Orb I don't think you can have share a tuning device with Sage. I agree with Kkeller - we need a Sage app for the iPhone, or preferably, the iPad.

I really don't understand the point of live Tv over wifi.. But then i dno't get LiveTv on a DVR either!
I travel a fair amount (100K miles in last 3 months) so I love remote viewing, but I far prefer downloading files to streaming. However that's just me and one of the beauties of SageTV like solutions is how differently each user interacts with it. Still, for the time being you already have a number of streaming solutions that are pretty much there, free and easy, albeit with no LiveTV. Hauppauge went the "right" way in my opinion: They have a web based solution, not an "app". The client is a web browser so that it works on many machines, not just app specific ones. I'd like for SageTv to have an enhanced web server that would include remote client playback... but that would compete with Placeshifter. I would have no problem with paying as much as Placeshifter for such a solution. I would argue that the web client is probably the only solution that would pass throught the Apple Application Big Brothers if past problems with other solutions are any indication. I agree with the web based client for sagetv and the ipad/ipod. The app for android looks promising so I don't see why we can't get something working for those devices. I don't think an official app will see the light of day just because our user base has done a good job of getting things like this done. So, one of you wonderful programmers out there needs to get started...
