ActiveMovie Window in VRM mode
I'm getting a ActiveMovie window poping up when I select VRM9 with RC1. n If I select overlay then I get a very jittery/jumpy display. Overlay is unusable and the seperate window isn't controllable. This happens with Cyberlink and Sonic decoders.
What should I do? Jim |

It will happen always with Cyberlink since it does not support VMR9. It should not happen with Sonic.
Try the Hauppauge Intervideo decoders to see what happens. Maybe an update of DX9 will fix something. |

it does happen with sonic. I don't have the hauppauge decoders installed. I'll see if I can find them. What version of the sonic decoders are working???

you need to set the sonic decoders to use "prefer vmr for dvd playback" inside the sonic application.

What sonic aplication? I got the decoder pack...
Edit: I found it. I do have it set to "prefer VRM for DVD playback" in the control panel. |

also sonic decoders only work with mpeg mode A and B or of course default C and D with give an error
remember for VMR 9 to work you must enable 3d acceleration which has been pretty buggy this release I would try staying with overlay until the problem with 3d acceleration are fixed but the blue trensparent menus are cool also all other decoders will work with VMR9, except cyberlink even the ATI version of the cyberlink decoder will do VMR9 I would stay away from hauppauge intervideo and intervideo decoders for TV viewing though picture quality is quite bad for TV viewing yet at the same time I really like intervideo for DVD Last edited by kny3twalker; 04-20-2004 at 08:49 PM. |

I have the DXVA mode set to default. Should I try a different mode? What are all those modes and what is the default?

I just installed the client on my notebook. I use NVDVD 2.55 decoders on all my Sage setups with VMR9. I had to update my video card drivers on the laptop to get rid of the active video window. Once I updated the drivers (radeon 9000 mobility) VMR9 worked fine. Well...it worked fine if you don't mind tearing.

I'm up to date on the video drivers as I'm waiting to have them fix a resizing issue in tvmode. So I'm checking for updates.
DirectX is also up to date. I'll try increasing my video memory that I allocate. does the VRM9 require extra video memory? I also just tried the dxdiag tests and they all work. Last edited by jbuszkie; 04-21-2004 at 05:58 AM. |
