UNC filenames TV tuner failure

Hi - I recently added a hard drive and a Hauppauge PVR-500 card (though I don't think the tuner card is involved). When I use a recording directory on the new drive and UNC filenames, very quickly I start to get interruptions in the tuner output and STV issues its message and restarts recording. If I use a local filename (e.g. e:\recording) everything works fine. I like to use UNC names so that my STV clients can see Comskip results. The new drive seems to work fine, it's shared, I've run ChkDsk with no real problems. Is there some setting I'm missing? Any ideas?

just in case anyone else encounters something like this, I finally came up with the hypothesis that the Sage service (which was logged on as Local System) did not have rights to my new drive (I've no idea why). I used instead an administrative account to logon the Sage service and I've had no problems since.

LocalSystem cannot access network resources at all, including UNC paths to local drives. When using UNC paths (even for local drives) you must log in the service as a user with network privileges.
