SageTV time traveling??
Hi,
I really hope someone has some insite why this is happening but... My SageTV 6.6.2 using SageMC is showing that it has recorded shows from the future?! The shows are random channels, shows etc. and if I look at the details of the show, the recording files themselve are existing recordings of other shows; for example SageTV says I recorded "NHL Center Ice" on 3/29 and the info for the file displays an existing recording for Star Trek. Anyone have any ideas? Here is a screen shot: Appreciate any help! -FM |

Hmm... Looks like it's confused.. It is thinking a Star Trek recording is that.. Wiz.bin corruption maybe?

Meant to add - I tried uninstall/reinstall but no change to the existing recordings listed and I confirmed it added another one since I did the re-install. I followed the steps I would do when installing a new release which is a backup of the sagetv folder, then uninstall using the add/remove programs then install using the exe installer.

Well before you do anything make sure you do a backup.. I would check the date and time on your server.. Run the time sync utility in windows. make sure it is completing without errors.
Other than that I honestly don't have any clue. You may want to open a trouble ticket with Sage in-case it's a bug before you try any fixes. |

Thanks - I just confirmed date/time on the server and did a Windows sync and no errors. I also noticed that when I reviewed the recordings for Star Trek I have saved, the one episode with the corresponding file name listed for the "future" recording (same as my screen shot) is now missing from the list of Star Trek recordings! This is getting worse

Before you do that, try it with the stock UI to make sure it's not a SageMC issue.

I'm somewhat surprised that Andy hasn't chimed in to note that, as well as mentioning that this was posted in the "regular" Sage forum, not the SageMC forum.

May I suggest you record the lottery numbers from the future?

Could I ask that you record the World Series and tell me if my Cubs finally end their streak this year?

Do we really need a PVR capable of recording the future to determine this bit of information? I'll give you a hint, they don't win! (Sorry, you set yourself up for this one. )

I know I set myself up. The question was really more about how far in the future it could go. According to Back to the Future 2 the Cubs will win the World Series in the future, I was just hoping to be alive at the time.

Are any metadata customizations in use?

Hi Andy, The only customizations I have are the sagemc, sleeptimer, comcast firewire channel control and recording and comskip. Thanks, FM |

About the only way I could see this happening w/o a customization (but could be wrong), is if the Zap2it ID for those airings was the same, but they shouldn't be the same... that reminds me: are you using the built-in EPG data or an EPG add-on for your TV listings?
If you have no customizations running that could affect the airing info (including custom EPG sources), then you should make sure debug logging is enabled on the server and contact support. Don't send any logs until asked, though. - Andy

My first thought was they are using the same ID. I am using the built in EPG data for TV listings. I will enable debug and keep an eye on it. Thanks, Tim |

I wanted to update you on my findings before I open a support case; I ran the log file long enough to capture another "future" show getting listed as recorded. I see that infact the ID of the show is matching the ID of the existing recording. Here is a snippet from my log: Wed 3/24 4:01:01.885 [LibraryImporter@1a67ab5] Autoupdated reimported MediaFile timestamp for airing info air=A[4059388,79756,"Blues",24382@0404.21:00,120] Wed 3/24 4:01:01.885 [LibraryImporter@1a67ab5] Attempted to add already existing file path to database: H:\StarTrek-ErrandofMercy-4059388-0.mpg returning exisitng MF of: MediaFile[id=269255 A[114425,67975,"Star Trek",10345@1115.15:30,60] host=media_center encodedBy=SGR on localhost:6969 Best format=MPEG2-TS 0:00:00 15192 kbps [#0 Video[MPEG2-Video 29.97003 fps 704x480 4:3 interlaced]#1 Audio[AC3 48000 Hz 2 channels 192 kbps MAIN idx=1 id=07c1 eng]] H:\StarTrek-ErrandofMercy-4059388-0.mpg, Seg0[Sat 11/15 15:30:00.000-Sat 11/15 16:30:00.000]] Wed 3/24 4:01:01.885 [LibraryImporter@1a67ab5] New Library File MediaFile[id=269255 A[114425,67975,"Star Trek",10345@1115.15:30,60] host=media_center encodedBy=SGR on localhost:6969 Best format=MPEG2-TS 0:00:00 15192 kbps [#0 Video[MPEG2-Video 29.97003 fps 704x480 4:3 interlaced]#1 Audio[AC3 48000 Hz 2 channels 192 kbps MAIN idx=1 id=07c1 eng]] H:\StarTrek-ErrandofMercy-4059388-0.mpg, Seg0[Sat 11/15 15:30:00.000-Sat 11/15 16:30:00.000]] As I had stated prior I am using the comcast STB firwire custom integration for channel control and video capture. What I did not mention is I am using multiple tuners and using 2 different EPG guides one for each. One for my local City assigned to tuner 1 and another for a local City for tuner 2. Unless you see something obvious I am going to open a case with support. Thanks for your input! FM |

Never mind the log I asked for in my post I deleted... this was suggested to me:
1) Change your import dirs so it is not set to be the same as a recording directory. Unknown videos in a recording directory will be imported anyway. The IDs on the filenames are being matched to other airings; that's why your detailed info is wrong for some recordings now. 2) Exit SageTV (and the service, if using service mode). Then set this property in sage.properties: repair_mismatched_media_filenames=true 3) Restart SageTV. After the next EPG update, the recorded filenames should be updated to match their actual IDs. More info about mismatched IDs & using the repair_mismatched_media_filenames property is towards the end of this FAQ. - Andy

Andy,
Thank you for the info. This appears to have resolved the naming issue. I will keep an eye on it and see if future recordings issue gets resolved overall. I think what I had did was at one point I added another disk as the tuner recording drive - it was a 2 terabye drive so it was a while ago. I must have just mistakenly added the old tuner recording drive to the media imports configruation and not follow up the directions in the FAQ. Appreciate your help! FM |
