ITV HD getting full-time channel on Freesat

For anybody who missed it, the ITV announcement is here

Although the channel only officially starts broadcasting on April 2nd, it has in fact been available for a few days now. It works fine for me using the following entry in my frq file: -

CH:106 onid:2 tsid:2049 sid:10000 frq:10832000 rate:22000 mod:20 pol:1 fec_rate_in:6 pilot:0 sat:0 ctrl:1 #:ITVHDTEST

The choice of channel number 106 was mine of course, and because this is a test transmission the other values could change before April 2nd.

It's a simulcast of ITV (all programmes), upscaled to HD where necessary.

Cool, now all we need is the rumour's of a full time BBC HD channel to come true and we'll all be in HD heaven.......Woohoo two free full time HD channels.

Nice job on the frq entry though, save's me looking it up

Cheers

Ben

Great, now I've got something to look forward to when I get home

... not that I want to go home

... and I'm guessing SageTv v7 will be released the day I fly back too
(but I'm not a betting man)

I don't have any HD200s but I can watch on my HD100s without problems, it works just like any other channel.

I haven't had any problems with the red-button version since I installed the native recording beta, but I doubt if that's needed for the new channel.

The channel is watchable on my MediaMVPs but, just as with BBC HD, too much fast-forwarding and skipping around can occasionally lead to a crash. There's little point watching HD on an MVP of course

I got ITV HD working with no pause every few seconds and thought all was OK. So recorded a few programs but after a few mins into them they start to break up and go blocky, the sound remains fine, its as if theres hard rain or snow on the dish, it cant be that as BBC HD is fine. Any one else see this problem.

Yes I noticed that too last night, but don't worry, it's breaking up for everybody, whatever kind of kit they're using; see the digitalspy discussion thread here

Seems ok again at the moment.

Good to know it wasnt sage this time. My own fault for rushing in i'd let the ITV1 favorites start recording again in HD. Will wait until its launched before changing them back. Wife not impressed thank god Married, Single, Other is repeated.

Can't seem to get this working on my Compro S350 DVB-S card.

BBC HD works fine and the old red button ITV HD seemed to.

Have tried with and without native patch but cannot get Sage to recognise any signal at all, its stuck on 0% signal strength in channel setup.

Suspect this is a Sage issue as I loaded ProgDVB, ran a scan and that found the new ITV HD no issue.

So just a warning to anyone thinking of getting it.

Can someone please confirm that ITV HD is still pausing every 5 seconds ?

Or is there a fix ?

Cheers

I just forced myself to watch five minutes of daytime TV for you, without problems.

Apart from, of course, the infamous Sage-inflicted pause at the 11:30 programme boundary, but of course some people seem to actually LIKE that "feature"

I don't watch much ITV HD but my wife regularly watches Corrie live and recorded from it, and has reported no problems since just after the new channel went live.

Thank you fac13. There must be an issue with my setup then, or my server is not powerful enough .

I will stay on normal ITV for the time being.

Cheers

Most of the time its fine. Every now and again you get a program where there's a pause every few seconds but this is usually down to a strange audio stream. I press the audio button on the HD200 and it switches to the next one and is usually fine.

I saw this last week, can't remember what I was watching at the time, but haven't had it happen since.

Coming in SageTV7......Live TV seamless transition between shows – If you’re a SageTV user already you know about this one. In the past say you were watching a sporting event and it ran past the scheduled end time. SageTV used to pause playback for a few seconds while it transitioned into the next show causing an annoying irritant to users. That problem is gone now and you’ll have seamless transitions.

Taken from Brent's GeekTonic blog

Cheers
