Server works fine but Client has error over internet.
I have the server installed on a Win 7 machine and works perfectly. I port forwarded everything in my router. I can connect to it remotely over the internet from a client PC. But on the Client when I go to watch live TV I get an error:
ERROR -3 0x80004005 "There was a problem accessing the filesystem for playback" I have tried all sort of combinations of settings, but this error happens every time on the client PC. I get to see maybe 1 frame of video before this error. Client PC is Windows XP SP3 1GB Ram AMD 2.0ghz Any suggestions? |

By "Client" with a capital C do you mean SageTV Client? That's not meant to run over the Internet; it requires direct LAN access to the server both for performance reasons and (as you've discovered) for reading the media files directly from the network shares where they live.
You can get around the filesystem access issue by using a VPN to make your LAN resources visible to the remote client, but you'll still probably run into bandwidth issues, since the client is trying to read the raw file in real time over a (relatively) slow Internet connection, without transcoding or compression. (I've also seen some severe UI sluggishness in this mode.) For remote playback over the Internet, use Placeshifter. That's what it's designed for.

Ok, then that answers that. I was under the impression this could stream over the internet, thanks for clearing that up. On to another product. Wish you all the best.

You can, but you need to be using Placeshifter to stream over the internet.
