Closed Captions (CC1) freezes video playback

My new client is freezing the video (audio moves along fine) while enabling CC1 on MPEG2 streams. This is while using the SageTV decoder. I can see the caption but the video is "frozen" and jumps to individual frames. Using the Cyberlink(PDVD9) decoder simply does not show the captions at all.

Client is an Atom330/Ion with Windows 7. The cpu usage does not change (~30%) with CC1 on/off (even during the frozen video). I've tried the native recording patch with no change so I've removed those files. All software is updated.

BTW - my older client (XP) can display CC1 with both the SageTV or Cyberlink(PDVD9) decoders in use. Is this a common issue with W7?

What is the source?

You could try Intervideo video decoder from WinDVD 9.0, it has always been excellent with CC for me.

Other option is to extract the CC from a recording into a .srt file with CCextractor.

Source is anything recorded from the hvr-2250. MPEG2-PS (720p@60fps,AC3-5.1).

I'll give Intervideo a try. & CCextractor when I must have the subs.

I'm really thinking it's a windows7 thing - anyone else have this issue?

I don't think this is a source issue. My older client plays back all the identical source files with CC1 on without a problem. Further, the new client (Atom330/Ion) CAN display the captions... It just freezes the video (frame jump).
