closed captions
I have SageTV v6.0.18, SageMC v6.3.2, and an HDHomeRun tuner. I've been able to get closed captions to work using VMR9, but my computer/video card is simply not powerful enough for smooth playback. I have been using sage since version 3 and have wanted CC since then. Is there any way to get CC working in overlay mode? I'm guessing there are decoding issues superimposing the text on video in overlay mode, but at this point, I'd be happy with any hack if it means getting some text on the screen. How about putting a big blue block of text similar to the channel OSD? Anyone?

There is a FAQ on the various ways of getting captions working. What you probably need is to use the "Malore STV" method which requires using mpg2srt to extract the captions from the MPEG file into an .smi file.
SageMC has the Malore CC support built in, or you can use this import to install the Malore CC support on the version 5/6 Default STV. John |
