channel mapping issue with 3 tuners

Hey there,

until today I've had a 2250-HVR using analogue SD cable. Simple enough can watch one and record another.

Today I installed am HD-PVR hooked up to a digital cable box. Install was fine.

However in my channel listings I don't see duplicate channels, eg
CBS ch 5
CBS ch 5-2

All I see is one listing, nothing doubled. It's almost like I had 2 2250's all hooked into the same SD cable line. Since the SD and the digital are both from the same provider would that cause sage not to make -2 channels?

Is there a way to keep the SD listings from the 2250 and add the hd-pvr digital listings so they show up as -2 channels?

It would really be helpful if I could do this.

Cheers

If the channels are the same from zap2it (meaning they have the same ChannelID), they will be combined on the guide. Is there a particular reason you want them to be seperated?

Also, you can probably use the 2250 to get ClearQAM channels as well. Maybe not much more than the locals, but it'd be better to get the locals via QAM than Analog.

Well it seems that I m getting major recording conflicts so I was hoping I could specify to record a certain show on Sd via 2250 and another on HD via hd-pvr.

For no I have disabled all but the HD chans on the HD-PVR which I suppose would work but if I want to watch tv live it would have been nice to watch the digital version instead of the sd version.

If you are getting conflicts, it's because something that sage wants to record isn't available. on an unused tuner. Making sure that every available channel is included on every tuner it is on actually reduces conflicts. Also, Since I'm guessing every channel that is available on analog is also most likely available on QAM, and you have a QAM caapable tuner, you should probably use that, so there's not reason to ever have SD channels...

Cheers for that.

I'm going to get QAM running this week. I was watching sage organize the weeks recordings and it seems to know what it's doing.
1- it's recording from the HD-PVR as much as it can
2- if it detects an HD available broadcast it will take that over the SD or regular digital broadcast.

I think I was freaking out because at first there was just a litany of recording conflicts which took a little while but since I cleared them up all seems good.

The way i handle this is as follows:

Make sure your encoder merit is set correctly in the sage.properties. For me i have mine as followins

1) ATI Capture (used for STB of SD and premium channels no HD)
2) HD Homerun Tuner 1 -- used for HD and SD ClearQAM
3) HD Homerun Tuner 2 -- user for HD and SD ClearQam
4) HVR 1600 -- User for HD and SD ClearQAM.

Now I personally like to keep the HD and SD channels seperate on my guide. So the way i have set it up is that the Channels 5 for instance which is my NBC is available on each of my tuners as follows:
1) Channel 5
2) Channel 85-1 (for example) & Channel 5
3) Channel 85-1 (ex.) & Channel 5
4) channel 85-1 (ex) & Channel 5

Now in my mapping i map all of the above to logical channel 5 and then i map the 85-1 to physical channel NBC-DT (HD) and 5 to NBC.

Now in my guid i will see 2 channels

1) channel 5 SD
2) channel 5 HD

they will show up one right after the other.

Thats just what i do, but hopefully it will help you out..
