Volume too low

I’ve upgraded my server so I can watch HD recording on the placeshifter client at a friend’s house on weekends when I visit.

My laptop (Gateway MP8708) has always had a volume which I considered low but usable unless in a noisy place or out doors.

When watching SD recording all seems fine although is can sometimes be low. But with the HD and I guess the 5.1 sound the volume is very low.

I know the laptop is doing its best and there is nothing more I can do to it to make it louder.

I was wondering what could be done on the fly to the HD recording to increase the volume or is there something with in Sage that can compensate for the low volume?

Jim

AC3Filter

I think maybe you can accomplish your goal with AC3Filter. I'm not sure if that's what you are trying to do, but I think you can bump up the AC3 track volume with this tool...

Go to download.com and search for AC3Filter. You would install this on your laptop and it would adjust the playback volume of AC3 tracks. Every 3dB you bump it up should be 'twice' as loud.

AC3Filter is only for DirectShow interfaces. Placeshifter doesn't use it, so it won't make a difference.
