Missing guide data with HDHomerun setup

I have 2 channels (History Int'l and Hallmark Movie channel) which show "no data" in the guide. Typically this means the channel name pulled from the cable is different from the Zap2it. My listings identify these channels as "HI" and "HM". This is what is set up as channel labels. Where are the channel IDs stored? I'm thinking the ids are not correct and want to compare the Sage file to the actual id.

When following the QAM instructions for HDHR setup for Windows, did you check the Zap2it site for your listings & use their station names in the HDHR channel editor?

Station IDs are now listed in the SageTV UI in Channel Setup; simply highlight the channel to check out its info.

The "HI" and "HM" labels are what is specified on the zap2it site. In my Sage installation these channels tune properly but w/o guide data. Both stations have a channel id 0f 82 in Sage. HI on zap2it has an id of 18822 and HM is 61522.

I have similar problem with some SD and HD listings. For example, zap2it lists WGNHD and WGNAMER as the HD and SD versions of the same channel with the same listings. Using WGNHD for the HD channel gives blank data. I have to label it "WGNAMER" to get data, which causes no problem because the lineups are identical.

If SageTV doesn't already have those station names in the lineup (or another active lineup) when it is trying to match HDHR channels, then it adds them & you end up with non-Zap2it IDs. You could try adding a new channel, but enter the existing station name on that menu, then change the ID & update the channel info to try to resolve it.

Or, first use the remap menu to see if there is another channel of the same name w/the proper ID; if so, map the channel to that. This could happen if it picked the wrong match for whatever reason.

Thanks, Andy.

When I went to "add a channel", it told me there already was a channel (HISI) with ID 18822 and do I want to map the "HI" data to it.

For HM it would not let me add HM because it would not allow dupes, so I created "HMM" with the tuning data and channel ID 61522.

Both work fine now.

Am I correct in assuming that cable providers have metadata streams on their system and that the instructions to match the names to the zap2it listings is not critical?? In other words, the majority of stations in the HDHomerun setup will put in Station names automatically. I would guess it would be unnecessary to change these even if they do not match the web data, because they most likely have channel ids also.

The station names in the HDHR channel editor are probably coming from the SiliconDust database. And, yes, you need to follow the directions I wrote for QAM HDHR tuning if you want to have SageTV be able to map to its built-in EPG data.

Linux

but what if you're not using Windows??

The HDHR GUI for Linux doesn't let you change the names of any channels.
I tried installing the Windows version under wine, but hit an unresolved .Net dependency.

e.g. WJLADT (ABC 7) shows up after a scan as:
name: WJLA_HD
phy: 116-7-1
log: 7-1

zap2it only shows channel: 210 with the name WJLADT.

It is a complete guess by me that WJLADT is the same thing as WJLA_HD; I have no way to really know for sure.

Last time I did this, I had a Windows desktop available and ran the HDHR_GUI from that, did the scan, and it all seemed like magic.

I just upgraded to Sage7 as a clean install and am having a helluva time putting my HDHR back together again.

ideas?

The instructions linked earlier in this topic state:

Quote:
For Linux, Mac, or OTA tuning on Windows, all you need to do is connect the HDHR to your network, then add the tuner in SageTV and perform a channel scan. You will need to remap the logical channel numbers (guide numbers) and map the channels to the proper stations.
You don't use anything outside of SageTV for the HDHR on Linux. You treat it as you would any other digital tuner: using SageTV, perform the channel scan then remap as needed.

This is described on p. 166 of the SageTV v6.6 PDF manual (the process is essentially the same for v7).

I saw that ... I didn't realize that the re-mapping with Linux would have been so extensive.

Not sure why, but when I scanned with Windows, my channel guide showed channels like 5-1. But with Linux, 5-1 showed no data ... I had to remap that to 213 to get the guide data.

I'm guessing that it wasn't the 5-1 vs 213, but the WTTGDT (guide data) vs the WTTG-DT (no guide data) that did it and the Windows hdhr software mapped that properly?

anyway, I got it working, but the remapping was extensive.

if there's an easier way, I'd love to try it, but now that I have it working, I'd want to backup my current settings so I can put them back if the easier way didn't work.
