Timecode problems
Okay, I took the Sage "plunge." I've been a BeyondTV and XPMCE user for years. Sage supports the R5000-HD so I decided to make the switch - SageTV on the server/HTPC, SageTV Client on my machine and an HD200 on the kitchen (wife's) TV. I'm running Windows 7 with the native patch on the computers and have been generally pleased with the results. Now I'm trying to clean some things up.
First issue I want to fix is a timecode problem. Sage doesn't seem to have a problem with my divx encoded files but doesn't get the timecode correct on OTA broadcast recordings and Dish (R5000-HD) H.264 recordings. I've searched the Sage forums all evening and haven't run into any posts on the issue. Here are a couple of examples: Marley and Me.ts Dish/R5000-HD recording Windows file properties, windows media player and VideoRedo all report 1 hour, 55 minutes and 27 seconds. Sage says 8 days 21 hours 48 minutes!!! Heroes - S04E13 - Upon This Rock.mpg OTA recording Windows, etc says 41 minutes, 42 seconds Sage says 3 days 5 hours 14 minutes! Again Sage reads the timecoding correctly on my divx (.avi) files but is obviously misreading the timecode information on the above. Since I don't see that anyone else seems to have had this problem (at least in the last 2 or 3 months) I must be missing something obvious - any help out there? |

If anybody else has had this problem, it went away when I upgraded to version 7. For some reason my old files recorded from Dish via the R5000-HD and edited with Videoredo still have the problem - new files don't. If I re-process the old ones in Videoredo again, Sage 7 correctly reads the timecode. Nothing else changed on my system but the Sage upgrade.

In SageTV 6 the edited files needed to have the same timestamp as the original otherwise you would get the symptom you were having. That's not a requirement/restriction in SageTV 7

Well, that explains it. Wish someone had responded to my original post to let me know that
I've also discovered that my video files simply needed to be re-scanned by deleting the import directories and then adding them back in. Time is correct in all them now. |
