Moving Sage to C:\SageTV from the program files directory on Windows7?
Can I simply copy the existing files from the program file directory or do I reinstall and copy which files?

Here is what I would do:
1. Make a backup copy of the SageTV Folder that is currently in your Program Files folder. 2. If you have UAC enabled in Win7 or had it enabled recently, check the virtual store for a SageTV folder and make a copy of whatever is there too. It should be under c:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86). You will have to tell Windows show hidden folders to see this directory. 3. Un-install SageTV from the Windows Control Panel. 4. Re-install SageTV. 5. Copy the contents of the backup you made in Step 1 over the new Sage installation. 6. Run Sage and make sure everything looks OK. If your settings aren't right or you are missing info on recordings, it is probably because you had been running with UAC enabled for a while and Sage was writing its updates to the virtual store. Check the backup you made in Step 2 for files called wiz.bin, sage.properties, sageclient.properties. You will need to shut down Sage completely and copy those files over to your new installation, then re-start.

Do not simply copy the properties files. You will need to either remove the properties files and reconfigure or else manually edit them to change all paths to point to the new install path or else it will continue to look for the database and other files in their old locations. There may be other files to watch for, depending on customizations.
If you are just trying to get around the VirtualStore, someone else using Win 7 should be able to say how to set the existing folder permissions to skip it. - Andy

Yup, sorry - Opus is right. There will be several entries in the .properties files that point at the old install location. The files can be edited manually, but it is easy to make a mistake.
If you have already installed to the Program Files folder, it may be easiest just to leave it there and maybe turn UAC off.
