Scientific Atlanta 4250C with Sage

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me to control a Scientific Atlanta 4250C cable box with Sage.

I have 4x HDHR tuners and a Hauppauge PVR-250 which, until I got the cable box, was using its cable in.

I got the cable box to use the SVideo and Line audio so I can get more channels using the line inputs on the PVR-250.

I own a USBURIT but I can't get that to work right. The cable box has a IR input using a mini-jack. I tired installing the USBURIT and connecting the jack on the back of the USBURIT to the cable box but sage doesn't seem to like that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The jacks on the USB-UIRT are for IR external trasmitters emitters only. Not for connection to hardware. Something like this: IR emitter

You need to either put the USB-UIRT near the 4250 or tape the LED end of an LED emitter over the IR input. The IR input is most likely to the left of the time/channel digits, at least it is on boxes like the SA3250HD, SA4250HD, etc. And then you have to make sure that you are blasting from the right zone of the USB-UIRT. The USB-UIRT can have three different IR zones so that you can control 3 boxes.

Do you have the Hauppauge IR Blaster, for the 250? If so, just use the WinTV blaster program to setup the IR Blaster for the box, then SageTV will be happy.

Not sure about the 4250 but I have a 4240 that I control with FireWire. Too many channels 5C'd to pull video but definitely faster and more reliable than IR.

No there's just two USB ports that say reserved for future use.

Ok, sorry, I see that there are 4250C and 42050HDC models. The 4250C is an SD only device while the other adds HD. I remember my prior SD boxes did not have the FireWire ports but the 4240HDC I have now does. It appears that the 4250HDC has the FireWire ports.

does anyone know if the IR cord that comes with the Hauggpage 250 is ajust a regular old IR transmitter? I can't find the cable that came with it. But I can probably get my hands on IR transmitters with a mini-jack on the end.
