Tips using Scientific Atlanta 3000

Well, I'm about ready to pull the trigger and buy the PVR150, since many have told me it includes the IR Blaster (though I haven't seen a pic of it yet). My Charter Digital set top box is a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3000, has all kinds of analog and digital outputs on the back.

Anybody use an IR Blaster with this specific STB?

I don't use that particular model but I have used 5 different SA models with a USB-UIRT. All of them have used the exact same set of IR codes though. Easy to set up in Sage, just follow the setup wizard and hold the remote within an inch of the IR reciever when teaching it codes.

I believe that the 150's IR blaster is not like the USB-UIRT in terms of setting up the source & teaching the codes to SageTV during the wizard process. There is a very short blurb about in the manual's appendix talking about IR blasters -- I believe you have to use the Hauppauge software to set up the 150's blaster & then just tell SageTV to make use of it while using the setup wizard.

If you ever need a 2nd blaster, though, you may have to consider getting a USB-UIRT, since I don't believe it is possible to use two 150 blasters on a single PC.

You mean two 150 blasters? I think you'll have to talk to Hauppauge about that -- I'm guessing it is a limitation of the IR software only allowing/using a single IR port at a time, just like you can't use two 250 IR receivers at once. I don't know if they plan to change that, but it would be nice since multiple tuners can be used.
