It frustrates me to hear that so many people still have issues with theirs. I wish they all worked as well as mine does. Might get one more next year if I don't get a Ceton to play with.

PS. I'm hearing the same things - supply is low due to lots of sales this last quarter. The MediaCenter folks have been buying them to use with the new hack available to them so that might be part of it. Newegg will get them back in once they re-stock. Hauppauge supposedly does have something new coming but I have no idea what it is or if it's even remotely related to the HD-PVR

MMMMMMmmmmmm..... and Comskip........

I totally agree. I have a stable system and having virtually unlimited recording potential (only limited by the amount of money I want to spend on HDs), no DRM, and now Comskip (just put that on my system a couple of weeks ago), there really isn't anything that can come close to competing with it.

The only thing that would make it better is having two HD-PVRs so we could watch more live TV without having to cancel recordings. But I'm too cheap to pay for another STB from DishTV since the only time we really watch live TV is for sports.

As far I know of the only thing that is new coming from Hauppauge is the MediaMVP HD and USB-Live2 model

Me too...mine has been rock solid for months and months. Only issue I has was the upgrade to Win7 installed a "newer" driver for it..and that one had issues. Went back to the version I have been using for over a year....and it just works. Never a lockup or missed recording. Much better than I expected.

My HD-PVR is usually pretty stable, but it doesn't seem to like recording StarzHD. It seems to lock-up at the end of 33-50% of StarzHD recordings. I'm not sure if Starz is dropping down to a lower resolution once the movie is over, or if the HD-PVR doesn't like going from 5.1 to 2 channel sound.

The lockup wouldn't bother me so much if Sage and/or the HD-PVR drivers could recover from them automatically. I don't mind a 30-second gap in a recording, or even a single missed recording. But I've lost multiple recordings because my HD-PVR has locked up and I haven't noticed right away.

(By the way, I should point out that since I'm using a motorola box, I can't lock my STB to a single resolution.).

There has been talk on thegreenbutton.com that Hauppauge is also coming out with a cable-card tuner. I guess we will see at CES 2010 (January 7).

That would be wonderful, but it probably wouldn't work with my OS of choice (Win2003) nor SageTV in general.

I'm sure it would only work in 7MC.

During blackfriday, I had multiple websites opened looking at Kodax zi8 flip camcorder. A couple days later, those pages disappeared as if they were never on the website. It was caused by the cameras selling out, especially since it was making websites as well as the Today Shows as one of the best christmas gifts for under $300.

Just trying to give an example of why you should probably not read much into it.

I posted this on GeekTonic since it's not been available anywhere for a while. The Hauppauge HD-PVR is back in stock at Amazon.

I keep asking the powers that be about this shortage and they've all told me it's just that a lot of them sold and it's taken longer then expected to restock.
