Playback issues with HD Homerun recordings
I have a PVR500 and an HD Homerun (HDHR). For some reason when I view content recorded by the HDHR, the picture freezes but the sound keeps playing. If I exit the show and then start it again, everything is fine until the next freeze. I've noticed that it seems to freeze more often at the beginning or end of commercials. I don't have a problem with anything recorded from the PVR500. So what's the difference between stuff recorded on the HDHR and the PBR500? Everything should be SD and not HD. Thanks.

Does this occur with 480i files? The HDHR only records in digital form so SD does not mean anything. If it is a 480i file, the problem probably occurs when using the skip functions. I reported this issue to support but it is a random issue and hard to find the cause. If this is your issue, you can use the Microsoft MPEG-2 decoder to work around the issue. You should report it to support, since it is no longer an issue with me.

Yes they are 480i files. I looked at a few recordings and the HDHR files are 704x480 4:3 and the PVR500 files are 543x480 4:3. Is this a possible issue?

I don't know where you got the 704x480 and 543x480 information but I doubt if that has anything to do with the issue. I originally thought it was related to the small size of 480i digital files. I gave Sage support a sample file but they could not reproduce the issue. It now appears to be specific to the use of the SageTV MPEG Video decoder. I don't know which decoder Sage support was using when they tried to reproduce the issue. You need to report it, if you want to see it fixed. I no longer get the channels that showed the problem in clear QAM, so it is a non issue for me.
