Sage TV triggering BSOD

I'm trying to get sage tv working for the first time with an avertv hybrid volar max usb tuner, and during the setup when I click the button that reads "digital tv tuner" I get a BSOD with some driver called bdasup.sys being at fault. If I try to set it up for analog only, it just doesn't work at all (I never get video.)

However it works just fine (digital and analog) in windows media center and the included avertv media center. This is in windows vista ultimate.

Any ideas?

Have you stopped the Windows Media Center Services before running SageTV?

Just a guess here, but SageTV and Windows Media Center want exclusive access to TV cards.

To run SageTV you have to make sure you've stopped all the Windows Media Center services - from control panel - services - and stop anything starting "Windows Media Center"

If that works you'll probably want to change them to disabled.

Do you have an image of your boot drive, so you can recover back to when the computer was working without the problem? If so, recover back. Then make sure your computer is free of malware and spyware by scanning it with spybot Search & Distroy, http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ and scan it with an scanner like Trend Micro Housecall, http://us.trendmicro.com/us/housecall/

Then take another image of your computer. Then try installing the software again.

If you don't have an image of your computer, then you might have to rebuild the computer again manually - unless someone else knows a fix for that blue screen of death.

You can recover from the blue screen of death much easier if you are prepared to recover your system with an image back to a known good working state before the problem occurred.

I tried that, it doesn't seem to work. None of the services containing "media center" in their description are running when I try this.

This is a fresh install of windows. The blue screen only happens with sagetv, and only when I try to setup a digital tv tuner through it.

The analog tuning seems to work for me now, but I still get BSOD when I try digital. It's weird because digital works just fine with windows media center and aver media center, just not sage tv.

I know this is over two years old, but has anybody got one of these AVER volar USB tuners working with the "digital tv tuner" in SAGE. Using Vista x86 drivers for my Quad 2.4gig. Tried about 3 times and it goes to Blue screen and re-boots.

Volar Max Vista

Its not limited to SageTV. The BSOD happens when you scan for channels with MediaPortal and NextPVR. In all instances it works fine with the Avermedia Software
