Is SageTV Software Playing Nice with Windows 7?
I am in the process of rebuilding my server. Windows XP has proven to be a great platform for SageTV. How is Windows 7 interacting with SageTV? Should I stay in XP? Any issues with the HD-PVR in a SageTV/Win 7 environment? Thanks in advance for all the help.

7 works fine for me, however I never really used sage on XP or Vista.
For simplicity's sake, I have disabled UAC on my Server. On the clients its not quite as cumbersome, so I leave it enabled. The UAC thing is the only issue I have really seen, but I think you would see that on Vista too. So no windows 7 sepecific issues IMO. Drivers for older hardware maybe and issue, but I do have the HD-PVR and HDHR both running reliably under windows 7. I would also mention that you should stick to 32 bit if you want to use firewire tuning - the firewire driver is not x64 compatible.

Koan,
What drivers are you using for the HD-PVR under Windows 7? Thank you all for your responses. I am assuming you are using Home Pro? |

I am using driver version 1.5.6.0 - I think the only change for 1.5.6.1 was an additional WHQL signature for Win7. I am using the ultimate version, but I don't think it makes much difference.

As far as I can tell 1.5.6.1 also has an updated firmware. The driver itself appears to be the same as 1.5.6.0.

I looked at both zip files. Each include 2 .rom files. Looking at the attributes in both zip files (v1.5.6.0 and v1.6.5.1) - the roms files all have the same Date/Timestamp, File size, and CRC value. The .inf, .cat, and install.exe files seemed to be the only ones modified. Is there another way to tell?

Interesting. I don't have that 1.5.6.0 file. Mine is the original beta file. When it was finalized I never upgraded because it looked like it was the same one. So the firmware between my 1.5.6.0 and 1.5.6.1 are different.

I don't have the HD-PVR. I ended up installing SageTV, uninstalling and reinstalling it again. I don't remember the exact issue, but it was related to my HD-HomeRun and saving channels. After reinstalling SageTV a second time, I gave myself full control of the SageTV folder (thats similar to turning off the UAC) before ever starting SageTV. So far, everything is working great. The are links on the internet that describe how to take ownership of folders in Windows 7.
