Sage not playing nice with theatertek(fullscreen)
The only way for me to get smooth playback with sage and my 6600gt is to run in fullscreen ex mode but if I put sage to sleep and go to use theatertek(fullscreen) I get a pink active movie window and sound, if I close sage and try theatertek then all is well again. Sage must still be using DX9 even after going to sleep. Please guys there must be a fix for this.

A pure guess: try using the dispose_windows=true property setting. This _used_ to cause problems on some system, but I thought that part was fixed... if it doesn't work or causes wierd behavior, set it back to false.

If anyone is successfully using vmr9 renderless on both Sage and Theatertek please post here. I would love to know if I am the only one with these headaches..

BTW -- if SageTV still isn't releasing various resources when put to sleep, you could try contacting tech support.
Also, when you tried the property change I mentioned above, did you make the change while SageTV was closed and change the appropriate properties file? (If running in service mode, you have to edit sageclient.properties for the UI portion.) - Andy

I will try contacting tech support, I did not even think about that because I am used to dealing with these problems in the user forums (theatertek). I have found that the problem is not just with fullscreen mode it also shows up in just normal vmr9.
P.S. I did make the properties change after closing sage down completely. Last edited by xxilikedirtxx; 11-04-2005 at 06:19 AM. |

I get the same problem (with ZoomPlayer too). I guess the only good news to my problem is that now that Sage has FSE I don't need to use those other players.

I reported this a couple weeks ago. Never could figure out what was wrong. It is definately a problem still.

I reported this one too. Previously it was a problem whenever Sage was running. With the later updates it only seems to be a problem if Sage has played something.

It appears I was wrong. When sleeping TT runs fine.

Are you running both theatertek and sage in fullscreen exclusive mode? Try going back and forth from one to the other and see what happens because I have had it work out of the blue but it was never repeatable. |

Yeah, FSE. Just tried a bunch of back and forth and it is working. I must not have tested it yet with a recent beta. I have seen that before but it was probably a few releases back. If I see it popup again I will post about it.
nVidia 6600, Latest drivers and latest NVDVD decoder. |

I am using 81.85 nvidia drivers. Have not updated to the new patch TT yet. Maybe I won't if it is going to cause problems .

I gave it another try, this time went full out and now I know that for me on 2 completely different computers Sage TV and Theatertek will not play well together at all. I set it up on 2 pc's one with an amd3000+, nv5200 agp and the other with an amd64 3200, nv6600gt agp using 3 different nv drivers and every setting I could do on each program (vmr9,vmr9 fullscreen, overlay. nv decoder, sage decoder, ffdshow, no matter what I tried the to programs just can not be used together. I could get overlay to work in TT while sage was in standby but when I would go back into sage it would be blacked out except for what menu selection I had my mouse on until I refreshed to a new menu then I came to find out that sage had dropped out of 3d acceleration and when I tried to put it back it froze up. Man I would love to know how on earth this is working for other people. The only way to not have issues is to use my ati 9800 pro but of course I never could get fullscreen ex to work on it at all and I never needed it. I desperately want to use this 6600, when each program is left alone it is awesome.
