QAM Confusion

I just bought an HVR-850 and am having some difficulty with the whole channel number setup. Before I got it I asked my local cable company and they pointed me to a page on their website showing what channels were available via QAM.

Here's the confusion:
If I connect an antenna and perform a scan I get my regional channels.

If I connect it to cable and perform a scan, it finds nothing.

If I use the information from the antenna scan the channels do work when I connect it to cable (except for a few that apparently don't get passed through).

So, I'm thinking some information that's used for the scan doesn't get passed through on cable.

Now the dilemma is that the numbers on the cable companies websites don't match up with the one's in sage - for example:

WDAFDT says it should be on 115.2, but sage shows it at 34-4-1!

How do I convert the numbers?

It's not a numbner conversion problem.. I don't think the 850 supports QAM. It lists the specs as supporting NTSC (old analog) and ATSC (current over-the-air digital). Nothing about QAM (which is a different type of digital broadcast used by cable companies).
