9 Problems Causing Headaches

1.Random freezing
2.The blue theme keeps going a cream colour
3.Writing keeps turning into white blocks
4.Client closes altogether for no reason, requiring a keyboard to restart
5.Start watching a channel and the screen is black, stop then reply and it works.
6.Often sound is very poor quality and states 32k mp2, but play another video then go back to the original and its ok
7.Full screen is only 90% of the screen, black space on right and bottom.
8.Choose a video to play and get a spinning logo for around 6 seconds, then either plays of the client just vanishes
9.Watch a video or play a song, switch TV to different source (Sky) then return to the Client to find "0 Folders" "0 Songs", restart client and all ok again.

Does anyone have any solutions to these problems? Please!

(p.s. Its the wife moaning that causes the headaches)

1. are you using plugins if you are try Sage without any plugins.
2. What OS system specs are you using maybe your pc is underpowered.
3. What version of Sage are you using.
4. How much memory and what is your Java Heap size
5, If using clients what type? extender client pc?

PS just complaining and not giving any information about your systems and setup is absolutely no help to anyone.

I suggest that you make sure your video card drivers & DirectX are up to date.

Also, attach a debug log to a post for more info on what is happening.

7 - right click or click Options while watching the video and change the Aspect Ratio to Fill. If it still does not work test it with the Sage Decoders as I have noticed the nVidia and perhaps some others require tweaking when you want to Fill / stretch video to the screen.

Give us your system specs and we may be able to help you with the quality and other issues.

Memo,

You're pretty new to the forum, judging by the recent join date.

SageTV does work trouble free. There can be some problems encountered while first setting up SageTV. I needed help when I first started with SageTV. The forum is extremely helpful, since there are always people that know the answers or can try pointing you in the right direction.

As mentioned before, you need to state what hardware you are using. It makes a big difference. Are you using extenders or using a video card on the computer?

You also need to have a backup / recovery method for your system. Once you get your system running perfectly, if something bad happens, you can image back to a point-in-time when everything was working. The best way to backup the system is with a disk image of the operating system and programs drive. The recovery also needs to be tested just after you create each image, to make sure that you can recover.

I have that same "whiteout" problem randomly on the interface. I would be interested to see if anyone has a solution, because I've tried about everything

What ION chipset for the graphics is being used? The full ION graphics chip or the ION LE chipset? What you could try is turn off 3d acceleration in the Sage client. It's somewhere in the Detailed Setup but I can't recall exactly where. Turning this off will lose the transparency in some of the OSD but see if it gives you some relief from your issues. Also, depending on your decoders you're using there may be some tweaks or registry changes you need to do to take advantage of any hardware acceleration.

What kind of content are you trying to play?
Can you playback the same video in another player?
Have you installed any codecs or players on the Client PC.

Thanks, tried all the acceleration etc settings without luck.

The wife couldnt take it anymore so ive had to put Vista Media Center on the lounge system, this is running a dream, plays all files with just ffdshow installed.

Now going to try sage on another system for upstairs, Can someone point me to the system requirements for sage so i can compare to Vista MC before i build.

I will be using the same files and server etc, just a new client so this should determine if its spec related.

Thanks

I posted above that you should get a debug log...
