Transcoding with multiple cores

I am curious to know if there is a setting to tell sage to use more than 1 core when transcoding videos for the placeshifter.

When I monitor my CPU usage (in task manager) as placeshifter is playing a video outside of my network that it is only maxing out 1 core and the other 3 are barely above 0% usage.

I think its a limitation of the version of ffmpeg they are using for the transcoding. I think it was in ffmpeg's most recent release that they got multithreaded transcoding to work reliable, so hopefully, sage will implement it sometime in the near future.... hopefully...

I think it's release 0.5 or later to get multithreading... and it is decoding MPEG-2, and encoding MPEG-1/2/4/h.263.. so it won't really help much with transcoding from H.264 material.

you can request the source from SageTV and see if you can update/compile it to support threading

Ok, I just wasn't sure if it was a setting I was missing somewhere. I will just wait and hope it comes in a near future version. Thanks for the comments.
