Hauppauge IR Blaster and Motorola DCH6200 dropping digits

I have a Motorola DCH6200 STB, and an HVR-1600. I'm trying to get the IR blaster from the 1600 to change channels on the STB.

In the blaster config util, there's no DCH6200 specifically listed (there's a DCT6200 with one codeset, but it doesn't work). If I just select "Motorola", several of the codesets work. But it randomly misses digits that are sent (about 1 out of 5).

I've been tweaking the different delay settings in the advanced config, but nothing seems to improve it. I think the problem might be that it's actually "holding the button" for each digit too long. I can see the blaster LED flickering for each digit, and it's pretty long (like a good 250ms I'd say). If I hold the buttons down like this on the actual STB remote, it occasionally misses digits too, but if I just press the buttons like I naturally would, it always works. Unfortunately, the blaster config app doesn't let me change the value for how long the digit is sent (just the delay between digits).

Any suggestions? Or am I just going to need to get a different IR blaster, or use 1394?
