Plugin for Motorola DCT700 STB via IR Blaster

I'm new to this. I just got my first HVR-1600 and want to build a box to replace my TiVO. Things seemed to be going smoothly but I can't get the IR blaster to control my STB. I am starting to gather that I need some kind of plugin. Can anybody confirm or unconfirm this? If so, where do I start to look for such a thing? TiVo has figured it out, Hauppauge WinTV has it built in. Suely SageTV can do this. Please don't tell me that I am at a dead end. Unless I really am and then I can start to move on. ~Thanks~

Which 1600 do you have? The one with the Hauppauge IR receiver/blaster or the one with the MCE version?

If it is the Hauppuage IR blaster you want to get working, you'd need to see if Hauppauge has updated the software for thst STB. If it is the MCE blaster, you'd need to do a search and see if any of the MCE blaster solutions will work for you. The MCE blaster is not natively supported by Sage, so you have to implement an alternate method of IR blaster control.

If you mean you have the IR blaster from the 1600 & it works to control the STB from within WinTV, then configure it via the Hauppauge IR blaster config software, make sure the blaster software is still running before starting SageTV, then you should be able to select it in SageTV when configuring the source.

I have configured it in WinTV and it seems to be working perfectly. When I configure the source, I select the Hauppauge IR blaster. So far so good. However it doesn't do anything. Then I go into setup and try to configure the IR blaster, and when I go to the dialog where I should be able to select my STB, there are no boxes listed, and no "Add.." or "New..." selection available, only a "Cancel". Has anybody seen this sort of thing before?

I have downloaded and set up the Hauppauge blaster utility. And I do have an icon for the IR controller in my tray. So I assume that Hauppauge is off the hook. Is there another setup utility I should be looking for?

That's because SageTV doesn't have configuration options for the Hauppauge IR blaster; all configuration is done in the Hauppauge IR blaster config software & SageTV just tells it to change the channel.

You do have the Hauppauge blaster, not the MCE one, as asked above, right?

WinTV is not running while you are using SageTV?

That basic config is all I know about that blaster.

OK. Thanks for the support. It's nice to know I wasn't suffering alone. Anyway, I have some great news. It's working! I took the draconian measure of reformatting the hard drive and loading everything anew. I made darn sure the IR blaster was working perfectly in WinTV before I even installed SageTV. Seems to have done the trick. I am very happy.
