Got the idea

We actually use the Lancaster repeater ( which is vert polarized)

I got the idea from your post . I tuned in the TV using another application which showed the frequencies and found BBC 1 2 etc on 522000 , put that in & it gets BBC channels . ITV has disappeared now but will look for that later.
Thanks for the tip .

After the 2009/12/02 switch off I have had a load more problems with tuning, so I used scanchannelsbda (uk version) and built a new frequency list for winter hill. Here it is in case it is of any use to anyone.

Code:
"United Kingdom-North@Winter Hill"
	frq:746000000;band:8;
	frq:770000000;band:8;
	frq:778000000;band:8;
	frq:794000000;band:8;
	frq:802000000;band:8;
	{tune:1;pat:6;sdt:16;}
I also picked up a couple of Welsh Muxes whose channels were duplicated in the other ones. Add these in if you feel lucky:

Code:
	frq:698000000;band:8; Wales MUX 1 (BBC)
	frq:658000000;band:8; Wales MUX 2 (ITV, C4, 5)
These go in your SageTV/PredefinedDVBT.frq file.

That's superb. I've just fixed a friends system with those winter hill frequencies.
Any chance of a full frq file for winter hill so I can get him the evening channels too?
I'm using sutton coldfield so mine are different, and I can't get round here at night.

I haven't actually got a complete list, and I didn't include the welsh MUXs, so I used Slingshot72's modified scanchannelsbda and produced a complete list for you:

I've never actually used the output from this programme before so I can't vouch for it but it looks good (and the channels are in the correct order!). The duplicate channel numbers in the 600000000 range are the ones from the welsh MUXs so you can delete the ones you don't need.

I've used it, and very handy it is too. It does list channels which cannot be tuned though, for example CNN, Russia Today and Teachers TV. If you look higher up in the file you will see that these do not have the same type of entries as the tunable channels.

I'm not sure why scanchannelsbda finds them, or what they are, but I think they need excluding from the Sage frq part of the output.

That's absolutely superb. Thanks

Those are DVB-S (satellite channels). Presumably there is some interference from a nearby Sky digibox or other satellite receiver.

You're joking, right? CNN, Russia Today and Teacher's TV are normal channels that come up on my Freeview TV too. I would have thought some kind of overlap from some nearby DVB-S equipment is impossible, isn't it?

You are absolutely correct. I was mistaken. I just checked the channels listing on the Freeview website & those channels are part of the package. When did CNN & Russia Today start broadcasting on Freeview?

It's just not working?!

I am completely at a loss, since the retune I have had numerous error messages in the system messages screen. So I decided to retune again only to end up with 7 channels ! I have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD Diversity USB connected to my WHS which is running Sage (amongst other things)
I have used ScanChannelsBDA-UK 2.6.1 to generate a frq list

61 Channel(s) found

Which I have copied into the sage folder.

However, it is still not showing on the system despite restarting numerous times.
Would some one please help me I don’t know what to do next.

A lot of those channel numbers are duplicated, you will need to sort that out first.

Do you have a backup copy of the .frq prior to editing, if so it might be easier for you to just update the tsid,frq and sid settings in that file based on the output from scanchannelsdba then restart sage.

You know that just having a FRQ file will not create the channels in Sage? FRQ just tells sage how to control the tuner, you still need a lineup in Sage using the tuner with that FRQ, either from a scan or more likely from the XMLTV lineup tools like Stephane's or Nielm's.

FYI - Ive finally got round to updating ScanChannelsBDA for SageTV (see here). It now has a SageTV options section, added radio stations to the output and fixed an issue with decoding the LCN channel number. Ive also added some experimental code which should help sort the channels into the correct order when duplicate LCN's are found e.g. BBC & BBC Wales.
