Has anyone tried processor affinity?

Has anyone tried processor affinity?

I am thinking of trying this to troubleshoot my problem. See here. Basically, thinking of giving Sage a core to record and limiting the transcoder to another. Or some variation of that. I have a quad so comskip could be a 3rd, etc.

Or maybe increasing the priority?
