How much processor is necessary?
For smooth transcoding of HD material at the best quality to a Media Extender?
I prefer Intel chips, so if you have a processor that can do the transcoding without breaking a sweat please lemme know what it is! I'm looking to upgrade my existing server and would like to put some extenders into the mix. btl.

Your current server with that E4400 at 2.6ghz should be plenty. I run an E4300 at 2.4 and have no problems. I only ever transcode to 1 MVP at a time, but I have no problems. Also the transcoder is single threaded, so with your 2.6Ghz Core 2 Duo, you should be able to do 2 MVP's at a time.
