HD200 support for 1080p/24

Downloaded the latetest Beta.

I was really hoping to see a VIDEO Output option for 1080p/24 in it, so I can watch my movie content without the 5:3 60ps pulldowns. But no joy.

I really wish it would be included. The majority of my content that I watch with the HD200 is 24fps. and 1080p/24 is nowdays a fairly common (if not a standard) video out for HD TV's.

this is the same issue as this thread that you started about a month ago....

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43535

Did the link to customizing the extenders output resolutions not work (you said that it did...)?
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...693#post252693

and a link to a plugin that brings a popup of the video resolutions during playback for easy selection

Hi,

The extenders output resolutions works fine (really great actually). But it only works when you use a Sage Server and run the HD200 in extender mode.

I've since then upgraded my LAN to include a Synology Raid5 NAS file server. So now my movie content resides there instead of on one of my computers.

I would now like to view these movies directly from the HD200 in standalone mode instead of using a Sage Server running on one my PC's to act an intermediary.

I'm able to play movies located on my NAS just fine from my HD200, but AFAIK there is currently no way to set the video output to 1080/24p when running in standalone mode.

Hench the reason for my request. Basically the request is take something that works great on the Sage Server and enable it on the HD200.

Regards

ahhhhh sorry about that... i didn't gather that you are looking for a standalone mode solution from your original post

if someone doesn't chime in, i would email sage support and ask them. My guess is there is a way to do this (just guessing though as i don't use standalone mode for anything except firmware upgrades...)

No worries.... A month ago I didn't know the difference between stand alone mode and extender mode.

I'm still working on understanding the difference between client mode, extender mode, and placeshifter mode. The terminology is confusing for some reason because I can't tell if it's redundent or dicriminating features for the product.

There is a way to do it, although I haven't tested it yet for this purpose. If you telnet into the hd200 and then use vi to create a file in /tmp called patch.properties it will then load those properties the next time the ui starts up. Using that technique you should be able to add the property that enables extra output modes just like on the server.

That worked like a champ. Thanks!!!!

I'm Unix challenged so I created the file on my pc then transfered it via a USB Thumbnail. It was actually kinda fun.

Thanks Again

I've attached the file I used. I had to append the filename with ".txt" to get it to attach to the post (so remove it, if you use it).

I copied it to the /tmp directory on the HD200.

I power plug rebooted the HD200.

The extended video output option doesn't show up in the Video Out options, only the Multimedia options under Advanced Setup options.

Let me know if that helps.

Regards

patch.properties gets deleted

I telneted into my HD200, vi'd a patch.properties file in the /tmp directory. Then I power plug rebooted, and then go into Advanced..Multimedia setup and don't see my custom 24p resolution.

I teleneted back into the HD200, and the patch.properties file is GONE. Deleted.

For good measure, I went through the steps again, and made sure the patch.properties was there and saved after leaving vi (did an ls, it was there). Power plug rebooted, same problem: no custom res, patch.properties file deleted.

Anyone have any ideas why my file is getting deleted? Thanks!

Just use the power button on the remote; that will restart the UI. Unplugging it restarts the entire thing & clears anything stored in memory.

It gives me 100% and hangs. WIndows telnet and putty does the same.
I close it after a while and then log back in. the file is not there

Any way to use a thumb drive to load custom settings automatically when the HD200 starts?
