HD200 and 1080/24p BluRay Movies

Hi,

Couldn't find anything searching the other threads, so hope this isn't a too redundent question.

I'm using my HD200 to play BD movies from my computer's BD-ROM drive.

The content on the BD disk (for the movie "WatchMen") is 1080/24p video and DTS 5.1 lossless audio.

I have the HD200 set to output 1080/60p because I don't see an option for 1080/24p. And I have the audio set to Bitstream (I think that's what the option is called).

My TV is a Samsung 120Hz 1080/24p capable set and my audio player is a BOSE system.

Is there anyway to get the HD200 to output 1080/24p? If not, are there plans to do so in the future or is the HD200 hardware limited from doing so?

Can the HD200 output lossless audio formats or is the audio getting transcoded to Dolby 5.1 instead.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

No, the HD200 can't bitstream HBR audio.

Thanks. I found the following the most pertinent, but not quite understanding it.

However, it'll still suck to disable 720p altogether, because then I have to rely on the HD200's scaling for 720p30 and 720p60 files. But I suppose that is better than showing 24p as 60.

So does it work?

I was able to cycle through various video modes using the Video Out button on the HD200 remote, including 1080/60i and 1080/60p. But I could not get 1080/24p.

So either I'm doing something wrong or it doesn't support 1080/24p.

The one thing I don't understand is the "custom extender_resolution_extra_modes" that is referred to in the post. I can't tell if that is an option I can enable on the HD200 or if it refers to an option on a SageTV Server (or something entirely different).

It's a setting you can create as your own in the .properties file for your client. It is found in the clients direcyoty on your server and is preceded by the MAC address of your device. Such as 0023DF34567.properties.

Yes.

Assuming it is operating in extender mode (ie you have SageTV running on the server) then check out: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...7&postcount=19

Effectively, you configure the HD200 via a properties file -- specific to an individual HD200 as determined by its ethernet (MAC) address -- on the server. The HD200 downloads and uses this as it connects to the server.

Good luck!

Played a BluRay movie (Fast and Furious III) from a USB drive attached to my VISTA pc, and everything worked Great!!!

Thanks!!!

Youre welcome

And just a slight plug... I made an addin that changes the default behavior of the video out button during video playback. It brings up a selection box rather then cycle through all the output resolutions.

This applies to media extender only.
Do you know of a solution for the media player/stand alone/ mode?

I have a server and 4 tuners. But do not have wired lan. I use those powerline 200mgb adapters but they do not work well for for most blu rays.

Thanks I have a ticket.I just think I will buy a Blu ray burner and just use my PS3 for playback. Very time consuming but the best solution.
Tired of fighting with the HD200 USB

Not every movie is on a disk. I will buy a burner for sure.
Until Sage take 24p seriously I would look somewhere else.
There is a chance however that my HD200 is defective.
I send sage an email about that.
Is there somebody in LAS VEGAS that can let me test his HD200?

By the way powerlines show 120mgb. But HD200 is still stuttering when streaming blu ray.

I'm not sure where else you get 24p content. Broadcast/cable/satellite all transmit as 60i/60p.

The movies and clips that I work on when they are being sent to me in a m2ts format.

I am not a pirate. I pay for netflix every month. I do not download movies.
