HD PVR codecs - can't find them in setup

I have installed HD PVR drivers and software. I uninstalled, then re-installed saget media center, but still cannot see the h.264 codec option in setup/deices/audio video.
Any idea on what else to try to get the h.264 option to show up in Sage?

this shows up in sage properties: videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Video Decoder

anything else that i can look for?

It's the Arcsoft TME software you have to install to get the codec. I think there might be an issue if you let it upgrade to the latest version of Arcsoft where you may not be able to make use of them. You might want to stick with the original Arcsoft software from the CD.

yeah, I saw that requester come up - and I don't think I allowed it. I can record HD material from my sat receiver at the moment, but there is no way to select the arcsoft codec under a heading called h.264. Oddly, I can select the arcsoft codec under the heading "mpg2". Any thoughts on how to rectify this?

How to use TMT 3 decoders in third party apps

Please Create a System Restore point prior to doing this

Follow instructions from this site: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...&postcount=316

for item 11 do the following
rename attached file: reg-codecs.bat.txt to reg-codecs.bat
copy file: reg-codecs.bat
to: C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Theatre 3\Codec

and then run it, it will register all codecs in that folder

And keep in mind
Quote:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Theatre 3\Codec
is the location on a 64bit system. Everyone else would use C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Theatre 3\Codec

(It may be obvious but just want to make sure and take any question out of the equation.)

thanks - the codecs show up in setup / audio video, but there is no mention of h.264 anywhere - should there be?

Also, when I go full screen, it appears that the HD recordings are not quite running at 30fps - more like 25 (it looks like a strobing effect, albeit a very minor one).

any idea on that?

@tvmaster2

If you are running a earlier version of Sage you will have to edit the Sage.properties file
see post #4 here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40653

for the videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter

@gplasky

Thanks for the path info

But is anything assigned to it?
I have mine set to this:
videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8)

At the moment I don't have any H.264 content to try it with:
videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Video Decoder
